Marshall MG30DFX 30-Watt Combo
This is a great amp for both the price and size. At just over £100 it's a bargain! It's got enough power for practicing in your room, or for jamming with friends without having to turn it up too high, as the 30W speaker provides a powerful, good quality tone. It's even capable of playing gigs, though only relatively small ones, but I have used it for small gigs to great effect. Although you don't get as many effects on the MG30DFX as you do on the MG50DFX or MG100DFX, you get four main effects - reverb, delay, chorus, and flange - which are quite handy, and can be used to create many different sounds. The FDD (Frequency Dependent Dampening) makes the amp respond more like a valve amp than others in this price region. The CD input is pretty useful as well because it allows you to plug in your CD player to the amp and then you can play along with it! The only downside is that it doesn't come with a footswitch, so I'd recommend buying one with the amp to make it quicker and easier switching between clean and overdrive, though it's not a necessity. Overall, I'd recommend this amp to anyone looking for that extra power from the basic 10/15W practice amps, or to someone looking for an amp to play at home or jam with friends.
