NT4
I can safely say this is the best mic I have bought so far. I am still experimenting with it @ the moment, but with acoustic guitar recordings @ least, it\\\'s amazing.
The other thing that probably hasn\\\'t been mentioned yet is the rodes support. They have been very helpful with advice on positioning techniques as I had initial issues with the mic picking up my breathing.
The stereo width of this mic is a 10 out of 10. It makes a hell of a difference having correct positioning every time you set up.
The only downside to it for me @ least is the fact that despite what the official info says, it does pick up some sound from behind. So for now I\\\'ve found that I can only really get a pristine recording by hooking it up to my laptop as the desktop is too noisy. This isn\\\'t much of an issue for me as I bought it mainly for location/mobile recording. But if you have a desktop and can only record in your \\\"control room\\\" then the results wouldn\\\'t be too great.
Lack of high end detail could also be an issue with this mic if you don\\\'t prepare properly with reflective surfaces. Recording in a dry room won\\\'t bring out the best of this mic, which some might see as a minus.
For these reasons I award it a 9/10. It is going to be the star of the show with my mobile set up. I love it!

Could not be much better than this
together with my Tascam DR1 recorder. Very pleased!
Rode NT4 Stereo microphone review
I Bought the NT4 soon after it came out on the strength of a good SOS review and a quick trial - I have not been disapointed. It's a great mic (or preconfigured pair of mics!). I've used it directly into my Edirol R-09 for location recordings - live acoustic performances and writing/rehearsal sessions with very good results as well as for micing a small Acapella ensemble through my PA and even as a convenient stereo drum overhead. The mic works well, is well made and has the useful batery option. For more serious recordings, the phantom power gives a lower noise floor. It is certainly worth the extra money over some of the other compettitor stereo mics in terms of quality, stereo image and headroom.
