Steinberg Sequel
This is advertised as entry level software and that's the main reason I bought it, being a bit of a novice when it comes to computer based recording. But is it any good ? On the whole yes, it's very user friendly, the fact that it's a one window application makes it very easy to navigate and in no time at all it will have even the first timers creating some loop based music. As for the loops, there's plenty to choose from, covering most of the main genres, these can be chopped, edited, have fx added etc with the onboard editing tools and fx. You can also hook up a midi keyboard/guitar/bass and add you own tracks as well. The only thing I didn't like about Sequel was it's total lack of VST plugin support (hence 8 out of 10), which means your basically stuck with the loops and instruments which come with Sequel, which is okay as there are plenty to choose from, but why Steinberg decided to do this remains a mystery (additional loop packs to follow maybe ?). This lack of VST support will put some people off. But overall Sequel is a cool piece of software, don't let the entry level tag put you off as it is capable of producing some very proffessional sounding music and it's easy to use, perfect for those wanting to take their first steps into computer based recording. Well worth the price.

I have just ordered a Sennheiser microphone and Marshall amps for the microphone and for a guitar. The goods were received in good order and on time. The after sales service was excellent. Advice on which amp was compatible was so good, I just can't praise enough. I will definitely buy from Dolphin again.
Steinberg Sequel
Steinberg Sequel is a very easy to use package that gives the right blend of price, quality and features to turn anyone into a descent musician.
However, being new, it's got a few bugs. It also eats CPU for breakfast so requires a descent ASIO soundcard not the normal onboard sound muffin.
You better test the demo before buying it. If you have an old machine look at Sonys ACID instead!

This product is aimed at the beginner market, as you would expect for any music software around the £60 mark. But, you will require quite a fast machine to get the most out of it. Pay attention to the minimum spec. Also installation, authorisation and registering the software is a little involved and you must follow the handbook instructions to a minimum.
Ok thats the negatives out the way. What you get is a very good music production package that is all on one screen. There is plenty of inbuilt effects, Midi Instruments and Quality Loops. The tutorials are well worth going through and the demo songs provided are of high quality. Audio and midi recording is straight forward. Remember this is version 1 and I'm sure there are upgrades to come to make it even better.
