500.v3 Review- Take the Plunge
To anyone looking at this cartridge/stylus setup, take the plunge. I own 2 of these gems, which are mounted on Stanton H4S headshells. I\'m slightly upset about the price- they were so cheap that I felt like I ripped off the person who sold them to me! But all jokes aside, this cartridge is NO JOKE. I do mainly scratching/mixing both techno and dance. The sound quality is extremely good, seeing that I record mixes. People think that my songs were on CD, but I don\'t tell them that good ol\' records did my trick. These cartridges, with stylus are not only a good buy, but the technical features are pretty good too. The tracking force is said to be 2-5 grams, but I run up to 6 grams on some of my most demanding scratching. They stick very well to the record, and I have not needed the antiskate for channel volume adjust- I believe the cartridge compensates for that. I have owned quite a few cartridge/styluses from Shure all the way to Pickering (that\'s an OLD company who revolutionized needles; not Stanton) and this one is the best. The reason? I go straight from dance scratching to oldies and not only get EXTREMELY superb sound from the oldies, but I never had to touch the adjustments! A note to anyone who buys it- if your tonearm is \"S\" shaped, tilt the headshell or stylus about 20 degrees toward you if you scratch. This emulates the straight tonearm for superior scratching, but this gem does the rest.
