Sennheiser E865 - Fantasic live microphone
I have used the 865 as lead vocalist for the last 5 years and its truly a fantastic microphone. Picks up every nuance of your vocals and if you\'ve been using an SM58 you will never want to go back to it. Buy this with confidence.
Sennheiser E865
I\'ve always used my old faithful Shure SM58 at gigs, until one night recently it died when it was plugged into a desk while the phantom power was switched on! (Fortunately I had a spare!) Although it is still used as a yard stick when comparing other mics, I decided that the SM58 is \'old\' technology, and things must\'ve improved since it\'s design. So, the very next morning I started searching for something more \'up-to-date\' yet still within my price range. After giving myself a crash course in understanding microphone specs, I found the Sennheiser Evolution range, and immediately spotted the E865. Superb specs! I couldn\'t ignore the price Dolphin were offering either, so naturally I bought one....
At the next gig, it was like someone had come in and spent HOURS setting up my vocal sound, even though nothing had been altered on my channel from the SM58 settings. I was blown away by how much difference one mic could make. The sound has much more \'punch\' and is noticably clearer, and even the flat top of the mic grille felt even better than the rounded type.
Also, we were able to push the monitor volume much higher without the usual squeals of feedback.
To those of you who use an SM58 - if you\'ve lived by them like I have, do yourself a favour and open your eyes to what\'s out there now.
