Fender Baja Telecaster - wow!

I always wanted a Tele in the first place. I guess when I saved some money it was time to give it a shot and invest on a Baja. I'm definitely NOT disappointed. On the contrary.

The first thing I thought when I played (unplugged) was "the brightness, the punch!".
A real workhorse. Stiff, solid, will last for years to come. I'm not afraid to let it fall. It'll resist.

When I plugged it in, wowie. Clear, distint notes. Bright, yet warm and sweet. The bridge pickup is punchy, twangy (although it won't do for the chicken pickers) and fat. No, it is not thin nor pinchy.
The neck pickup is warm, and responds greatly to dynamics and to the way you use pick.

You mix these two and you have four more other switching possibilites. I'm afraid I'll have to emphasize the series position, which is real handy when you want a tady bit of more gain and bottom end.

The neck, albeit most people shrug their faces when they read "soft v shape", is a wonder to play. It's a fat neck, but it fits real nice in your hand. In the beggining I thought it was a bit strange, but 5 minutes later I was already "in the love" with it. The frets are medium jumbo I guess and are pretty cool. Although I wish that they could've finished them better. They're not 100% smooth.

The hardware is top notch and the tuners you firmly grab ya strings.
The only thing I'll have to negatively critisize is the lack of shielding. On a Custom Shop Designed model, they should have shielded the pickup and control cavities. Oh well.

All in all, awsome guitar. I won't give it a ten because that's perfection; I won't give it a nine, because of the little flaws I wrote down above. Thus, I'll give it an 8.

The best guitar for this price. And for many upper prices.

This guitar has totally turned around my electric playing. Back in 1964, I had a 1957 Stratocaster.
For all these years, I've been searching for another neck that had that feel. A feeling that can't be put into words, but when you put your hand around one, you'll know what I mean. Even if you weren't around in the fifties. They have recreated this vibe, even more so than with the U.S. reissues. It just invites you to play it, defies you to put it down. I just don't play any other guitars now. The electronics are simply superb. It doesn't get any better or more versatile with a Tele. Six different sounds in total. Fingerboard is nicely rounded, bends are easy any very controllable. Sustain is very good, and warm. Very woody. If I could afford it, and maybe soon will, I'd get another one, just to have another for when I wear this one out. I fear that they'll stop making them once they realize how much it's going to cut into the sales of the U.S. and custom shop models. This truly is the '52 Tele of today. The ones our children will be lusting for years from now. Oh, did I mention that it's absolutely Beautiful? It is. Every detail shows a love for the craft of guitar making. Fretwork and crowning is impeccable. Neck to body fit is perfect. It's a heavy guitar, not one of those ultra light Teles that ya swing around. It's almost like a Les Paul on your shoulders. But a LP wouldn't like you bite into a note like this. Simply put, if I could only have one guitar, this would be it. took it and a strat to a gig last Sunday, and ended up playing it on most of my Strat tunes. Sweet home Alabama, and such as that.
I could go on and on, but you just owe it to yourself to play one.

Really impressed with this guitar. Build quality is superb. The only things that I could, perhaps, fault are the bridge and pickguard. The pickguard seems to be a flimsy piece of plastic and the bridge appears to be a little flimsy. However, and it\'s a big however, remember this is a guitar that costs less than £400, from Dolphin.

The guitar sounds superb. The 4 way switch, together with S1 switching, offers 6 sounds, compared to the normal 3 of a Tele. All 6 positions are extremely useable. Position 4, with S1 up, gives a really nice fat rhythm sound.

Since buying, I have replaced both pickguard and bridge. Bought a Callaham bakelite pickguard, which needed a little trimming but is more solid. Also got a Barden bridge which adds a lot more clarity to the notes, as well as improving intonation and being more solid.

This guitar is the cheapest in my collection of 12, but it still manages to keep up with the rest for playability & sound. Excellent product
