What's in the stompbox?

The G1x provides a variety of effects categories: Comp/EFX, Drive, EQ, ZNR/Amp modeling, Modulation, Delay, and Reverb. For added flexibility, the G1x features a built-in expression pedal for control over effects such as flange, wah, and other effects. This Zoom ships loaded with 40 presets, many of which are modeled on the signature sounds of famous guitarists. The G1x will run for up to 12 hours continuously on four AA batteries and comes with an included AC adaptor.

The 21 amp and stompbox models in the Zoom G1x digitally simulate the clipping action of analogue devices such as valves and diodes to faithfully duplicate the distortion of valve amps and vintage effects. Choices range from classic models such as Fender, Marshall, and VOX to popular modern amps including Mesa Boogie, Peavey, and Diezel. An acoustic simulator is also included, so the G1x can make your electric guitar sound like an acoustic.

The G1x pedal provides a total of eight modules with 54 effect types ranging from standard to advanced. Emulations of the historic sounds of the MXR Dynacomp, Vox Wah, or Crybaby Wah. Apply EQ in three bands. Two types of chorus add spaciousness and depth. The G1x has five types of reverb to simulate the acoustics of a room or concert hall. The Harmonized Pitch Shifter can play along with you, all effects are designed for real-life musical applications. Use delay and echo settings with up to five seconds of delay time.

The G1x offers realistic drum sounds based on PCM samples, arranged in a variety of rhythm patterns for different musical styles. The 40 rhythm variations include steady 8-beats for rock and pop, funky 16-beats, jazzy 4-beats, shuffles for blues styles, and more. Rhythm training is easy, and a tap input lets you set tempos easily.

The Zoom G1x guitar tuner can be called up instantly by pushing the two footswitches simultaneously. High-brightness LED indicators make the note readout easy to see on a dark stage. Mute tuning, turning off the sound output, is also possible.

Zoom G1X

Not being a great guitarist, I need a box of tricks to make my attempts at playing sound halfway decent. For £55 the G1X does the job brilliantly!
It has a drum machine that actually makes sounds like drums and the only way it could be better would be if you could programme your own rythms/patterns....but then what do I expect for 55 quid!
The effects are many and varied, although the acoustic sim is a bit disappointing, but never the less makes a nice clean sound. I like the tuner, but would prefer to have a frequency indicator in the display.(Again what can you expect for £55!) There really is no limit to the variations in FX you can get from this box and having spent nearly £200 on a Digitech multi fx pedal years ago that didnt have a drum machine or a tuner this pedal is astoundingly good value for money.

This is an excellent product. It has a huge range of effects. It\'s solidly built. It can run on batteries and it works with headphones. It\'s perfect for practising.
If it has one fault, it\'s that too many of the 40 example patches are skewed towards extreme distortion levels. There are still several good default patches though, and it\'s easy to create your own whatever type of guitar sound you want.

This multi-effects box is the business! The Marshell and Mesa Boogie distortion sounds are up there with the crunch of James Hetfield. The auto wah mixed with distortion is the same sound that Kirk Hammetti uses on stage and in the studio.

This box is well worth the money and I would recommend it to anybody that is wanting to buy an effects pedal. There is loads of other cool sounds I just haven\'t got to them yet!!

I'm returning to the guitar after 30 something years, I'll only ever be playing in my bedroom for my own amusement but even so, I think this is a great gizzmo and worth every penny of the few pounds it costs. It appears sturdily made and the various sounds can be cycled through with the two foot switches. Changing other settings like the drum sounds really need to be made by hand as the buttons for that are a lot smaller. There are 40 sounds the box provides and space for another 40 of your own devising. You could spend many evenings playing with all the permuations. Maybe some of the sounds will never get used but they're great fun to play with. Even though I'm an awful guitarist with this little box I can make two notes sound really cool. It does amplify up the sound from your guitar so when it's connected to the amp the volume can be really loud. The box does have a volume control to help offset this. The drum machine plays 40 rythms, mainly 4/4, some 3/4 and a couple of 5/4. Added to my two note chords and I can almost think I sound good. So, not only can you make lots of different sounds there's a drum machine with variable volume and tempo and you can use it to tune your strings - easily. For output, plug into your amp - very loud - or use headphones. As I don't want to annoy my neighbours or deafen myself I've ditched my 15W amp and connected it to a pair of old pc speakers I found in the loft. I get all the effects but without rattliing the windows. If I was starting again I wouldn't buy a kit, I'd spend more money on the guitar and get one of these as I can tune my guitar with it, use it as a metronome and have lots of fun with the sounds. Highly recommended and so are Dolphin. Ordered late afternoon it arrived next day.
