Spider III 15 review

I bought this a few years ago to go with my Line 6 Variax 300 electric guitar (which is also awesome), and I\'ve been very pleased with the performance of this little amp. It may only be 15 watts, but I have yet to turn the volume knob up beyond half way. The preset amp models give a reasonable range of effects, though I rarely find a use for the uber-distorted one - a little too much for my style of playing!

A couple of niggles though that might be worth noting. The \'clean\' channel is set up with a chorus effect by default, which to my mind makes the term \'clean\' a little confusing. Still, you can override the defaults, which is what I\'ve done, so that\'s easily solved. I also had to play around with the settings to get each channel to a similar overall volume level. The number of effects are somewhat limited too, with plenty of stuff I wouldn\'t use and not enough of the common stuff that I would (for instance, it gives you a flange chorus, but not a plain chorus). The only other thing it\'s missing is a D.I. output, so when I\'m playing gigs I have to put a microphone in front of it, which is a bit of a pain, but I can live with that for now.

Overall I have been very pleased with the amp. It\'s well built, reliable, easy to use, and creates some lovely sounds. Perhaps not up to serious gigs, but for studio work and smaller gigs it holds up nicely producing a clean and controllable sound.

From personal opinion of using amps/pedals this Amp is a great package and stores some great effects. I personaly like this am set on either a clean tone with reverb or on insane with nothing else. This amp is great for anywhere from beginner anywhere to professional level of playing. I would recommend giging with this brand of amp as they have a very distinctive sound and they are basicaly an all round great amp
