Ashdown Electric Blue bass amplification loads legendary Ashdown tone into an affordable new amp head and a pair of high-performance, high-value combos.

The EB 15-180 1 x 15" combo uses a 180 Watts RMS fan-cooled fast-transient power stage, and a fully-featured bass preamplifier with inputs for both active and passive instruments, an illumunated VU meter, 5 band EQ with Bright and Deep switches, a front panel-mounted balanced DI output for connection to a PA or recording console, an FX loop, a tuner/line output and the classic Ashdown sub-harmonic generator.

A high-performance Ashdown BlueLine bass driver ensures exceptional attack, clarity and low-end performance, while an extension speaker output can be used to connect an additional cabinet for use in larger venues. The cabinet is finished in a tough, scuff-proof carpet covering with protective corners and a kick-proof metal grille.

Amazing amp for the money, really well made, excellent EQ section and fantastic tone. Cannot rate this high enough, will only get rid when I can finally afford an Ashdown ABM!

Wow is all I can say. I was using a little Behringer thing before and bought an Ashdown as a lot of my favourite players use them and I am positively blown away by this amp considering how affordable it is. The sound is so warm and defined, thats not to say its a one sound pony though and the sound be radically altered using the superb 5 band rotary eq.

It also has a DI which is great if you want to gig or record, as well as a great Sub Octaver(For those up the neck moments!) and Deep and Bright switches which work really well for boosting the appropriate frequencies. The VU meter looks very cool on a dark stage too!

All in all if I had paid twice the price for this amp I would still be scoring it 10/10. I\'ve already started saving for my next Ashdown.

ASHDOWN eb 180-15

For the money you get an awful lot of power and tonal choice, with the EQ section giving smooth increase/decrease across the ranges. You also get great clarity, and a strongly-built amp that doesn't weigh a ton. Effects like the Octave bass are actually useful - especially for Who fans. Probably the best in it's class by quite a margin, and loud enough for small gigs. Fantastic starter amp.

What you DON'T get is warmth and that smooth round feeling that helps tie a band together and sits easily in a stage mix. The sound is a little "boxy", and even with the mids cut back can be very cutting. Fine for rock, jazz and strong bass lines but less good for soul, pop or strict tempo. For this you probably need to upgrade to a bigger Ashdown.

But a workmanlike product that will rarely disappoint - especially at the price.
