Although only the original Saffire has onboard DSP, the Saffire LE comes complete with the entire Saffire plug-in suite, offering highly acclaimed Compression, Reverb, Amp modeling and EQ in VST and AU formats. Furthermore, Saffire LE is bundled with a host of other software titles and audio samples, all included on the accompanying resources dvd.

As with the original Saffi re, input and output levels and latency-free monitoring solutions can all be controlled via the accompanying SaffireControl LE software. This stylish application floats comfortably over any recording software, and can shrink in size to suit a number of different recording scenarios. Secrets of pros DVD

Recently received Secrets of the Pros Basics of Modern Recording & Mixing - Tutorial DVD. Wasn't in stock initially but was quickly sourced. Kept posted on each stage as it was reached. All very efficient.

Saffire LE

You really can't fault this excellent soundcard. I started in digital audio many years ago with Creative soundblaster (never again - I was naive and skint in those days), progressed to an M-Audio Delta 1010LT (nice card but too much spaghetti) and now this. Having briefly flirted with a USB device in the past I am convinced that firewire is a superior connection and far more reliable. The card is stable on the desk (ignore reviewers who say it is prone to falling over - one wonders what they are doing with it)! It has a simple interface and will support either a pair or monitors or a 5.1 surround set up if that's your preference.

The mic pre-amps are very good and it also features a pass thru firewire connection for other external devices if you are short on ports.

The software control panel is very easy to use and the card works extremely well with my DAW package (Sonar Home Studio).

No regrets with this purchase and unless you need more inputs, DSP or 7.1, this is the one of the two Saffire cards to go for. I do occasionally experience the odd lost connection but I usually put this down to a software problem with one or more apps. I simple reset of the firewire connection fixes it every time - such a rarity that it doesn't affect my overall rating for this product.

SAFFIRE LE

I compared this product with the PRESONUS FIREBOX and the SAFFIRE LE is much better in my opinion. Better preamps(more gain) and convertisers (better sound,closer to the reality and less noisy). I hesitated a long time 'cause I couldn't find a lot of reviews about the SAFFIRE LE, until I did purchased both and did my own test. Don't hesitate and jump on this product, you won't regret it! Trust me on this one!
