The Delta 1010LT delivers much of the same universal connectivity, high fidelity and seamless performance as the popular Delta 1010 on a single PCI card—and at a fraction of the price. Multiple analog I/O, MIDI, S/PDIF and surround sound support are all here.

Two inputs even have mic/line preamps on XLR connectors, saving the expense of outboard preamps. It’s all on a compact, half-size PCI card with two color-coded breakout cables. Combine up to four Deltas in your system for a maximum of 32 analog and four stereo S/PDIF inputs and outputs.

36-bit Embedded DSP

All Delta cards contain a 36-bit embedded DSP enabling a software-driven patchbay/router for all analog and digital I/O—all with extremely fast throughput for low-latency software monitoring.

A single unified control panel provides settings for clock and sample rates, buffer sizes, individual signal levels for every input and output, adjustable +4dBu/-10dBV pad conrols and digital I/O control on up to four installed Delta cards. All controls are also easily accessible through most professional audio software applications for seamless integration and operation.

M-Audio Delta 1010LT 10-In/10-Out PCI Virtual Studio Reviews

Great Product

Had this card for a few years now. Never had any problems with it. I do a lot of digital sequencing and have found it great for the price. I run it through my Mackie desk and have had few records released with tracks made using it. There really is not much else with the latency and sound quality of this card available for the same price.

Pro\'s:

Great sound quality
Very stable (xp32)
Excellent price

Cons:

Mic/line jumpers
No breakout box

As for the previous comments about the bundled software, I didn\'t buy this card for a stripped down version of Ableton, but I was quite happy to get something for free.

M-Audio Delta 1010LT

I bought this card with some trepidation, as I\'ve had nightmares in the past with PC based recording.

But it was an absolute joy - no issues with latency, stable as a rock, nice software interface.I have a digital tv card already installed, and that integrated seamlessly.

I\'m running XP on an old banger PC, using Cubase SX and Reason.

Installation went very smoothly, the only headscratching you may encounter is deciding where to set the jumpers for the operating levels for inputs 1&2 (the XLR ones). Since I run my mics and instruments through a Focusrite Platinum Trakmaster i\'ve set the jumpers to maximum Line Level of +14dBu.

I only have one regret about this card - I wish I\'d bought years earlier.

I love it !!!!

M-Audio Delta 1010LT

I purchased this item specifically to work in a virtual pipe organ (Hauptwerk software) with Windows Vista Ultimate x64 in an Intel Quad Core PC.

A. GENERAL

The product is fundamentally sound but I have the following comments, which I think M-Audio would do well to read:

A1. The Driver
The 64 bit driver seems to have been slow in development and is still only in Beta. Furthermore it does not match the manual description.
For example: where is the PatchBay? and how is the so-called \"Bass Management\" facility accessed? I couldn\'t find it.
For a so-called professional product we need fully released and documented 64-bit drivers on the CD.

A2. The Cables
I would have liked to have seen M-Audio supply some cables for use with the break-out connectors. Considering that neither this card, nor their Studio BX5 Monitors come with connecting cables (and the use of RCA-phono flying leads at the card end and XLR at the speaker end without supplied cables is a little unfriendly).

B. SUPPORTING SOFTWARE

B1. M-Audio Pro-Tools
The supporting software was disappointing. Firtly, M-Audio Pro-Tools should be renamed Am-Tools - simply because it does not recognise a 64-bit installation of the card. This renders it quite useless for those if who are in 2008 rather than 1998.

B2. Ableton Live
Secondly, the versions of Ableton Live-Lite 6 and Live-Lite 7 (including M-Audio enhanced) that are available with the product do not incorporate a music score editor. This is a major omission for serious musicians.

So all-in-all a potentially good hardware product sploied by lack of up-to-date software support.

DO NOT BUY FOR INTEL MACS

I just bought this card for use in a Mac Pro - BIG MISTAKE.

M-Audio do not provide drivers for their PCI cards for Intel Macs - but they do not make this clear on their site or on this site.

This is a huge disappointment and I am going to attempt to return my card.

Excellent

I bought this card a few years ago for professional sound recording, editing and creation. As a guitarist and artist I use it in a 64-bit AMD PC running Gentoo Linux for AMD-64. The connectivity and sound quality is perfect (note: using Cyrus CLS-50 speakers) for my multi in/out needs and so is the compatibility of this product under Linux. Stability 100% and I have never had any reliability issues. The only reason I went for the LT model is because the version with the external box was too expensive for me. As far as I can see, the only downside with this product is that switching between line-level or mic-level for the two balanced analogue inputs must be done using jumpers on the PCI board itself - which is a pain because in order to do that with my system I have to remove the card from the computer completely to get to the jumpers. That is why it doesn't quite score a 10/10 from me.

Delta 1010lt

Needing an affordable solution to home audio recording and hearing of m-audio's reputation - I intrepidly researched and then decided on the delta 1010lt as my sound card of choice.

There are lots of cards to choose from - depending on your needs - you can go all the way up to top-of-the-range professional cards.

So how does the delta 1010lt figure?

It's without the rack inputs of the regular delta 1010 - which means you have to run through a mixer(s) or tackle spaghetti junction behind the computer. This is the biggest drawback with purchasing the 1010lt, but if you can think ahead to how many individual inputs you need and how you will deal with arranging this - you can over come this problem. I have found a solution (other than buying an 8-bus mixer which costs an absolute bomb) which is to purchase an 8x8 rack and add this on to the inputs. You can get one for about £350-400 for the long-term solution of having a semi-professional DAW. If you need this more quickly, a better choice is to go for the regular delta 1010, as it has a rack unit.

Installing the delta is quick and easy - it has a neat virtual mixer and has a thoroughly tuned driver history. I have heard little or no problem will come from compatability issues because of the length of time it has been in action.

I used the delta with Mackie's Tracktion 3 - a great bit of music software. Very quickly I discovered that there is no latency problem when using m-audio's AISO driver.

The unit is stable and records at a very acceptable quality.

Altogether a good, affordable card with great versatility.

Incredible feature-packed and reliable card!

I had always wanted to record tracks from my guitar, vocals and midi into a PC. And usually most of those methods were into the old mic inputs of the computer (with as many adaptors I needed to buy to get everything to fit).

And some cheap-old recording software turning my tracks into WAV files onto my PC.

Until using things like Cubase, I realised then how that old method created alot of \"fuzz\" and \"hiss\" in the background, simple connections into a bog-standard soundcard are NOT what you need when trying to make music matter.

So - I delved into research about a soundcard that would fit my needs. I didn\'t need one to mount in a rack (I don\'t have a rack), I needed to go inside the PC as I didn\'t have enough room for a breakout box (And most of those were far too expensive for me) and I wasn\'t going to gig my PC - I just wanted to make recordings at home!

I had nowhere to turn, with my budget--- until I saw the Delta 1010lt from M-Audio on a Google search.

So what made me go for this card I hear you cry... Well, All those connections for a start!
My effect pedal has a digital out (no more hiss!) and I need to record vocals (the soundcard comes with TWO inputs for real studio mics) and the ability to put midi in (my effect pedal has midi, so now I can transfer sound patches, or plug in my drum machine and record that way - no more USB driver nonsense).

Overall, what you get is a PCI card that you plug right into your motherboard, when installed, you simple insert the connection cables into the back of your pc (onto the card itself) and then you are ready to go!

The card comes with its own drivers and trial software. I never bothered with the trial software.

Now - the soundcard driver. Whilst alot of you with normal PC setups will be controlling their soundcard from windows\' sound menu (mute, volume bar, advanced settings etc) - when you install this card, you don\'t use that feature.

You simply click the M icon on your taskbar (next to the clock on the bottom right) and it brings up a menu.

And boy what a menu it is!
One click produces the bass manager (a simple menu with only a slider to control how much bass is coming out of the sound, handy when you are using other applications aswell as recording).

Double click brings up the full menu.

Organised in tabs (much like new internet browsers) you can see ALL of your inputs, outputs and things like that. You can see if they are too loud (in the red) and you can switch which left or right channel they come out of too.

You can mute others when you like, handy if you want to concentrate on one channel alone for your master outputs.

For example - when setting up something like TRAKTOR 3 (dj software) you can have the output going to an amp (what your mixin\' comes out there) and then what you want to mix through the headphones comes out from another output.

When testing the loudness of each input and output, you can mute and change around the MASTER level on the m audio mixer.
Then, your software does the rest (mixing and all that) but when you make the master settings here, it will make sure that it won\'t go into the red.

Ideally - if you want a sturdy soundcard for a big studio or some sort of Kraftwerk style gig ;) then don\'t get this card, because it is always connected to a PC. And how many PC\'s do you see on stage these days? (Jim Davidson may count for a non-PC on stage... ;) but I\'m on about computers here!

PC\'s are not durable like audio equipment, and the connections are out for all to see like a fistful of cables, not in a sturdy metal case.

This card is perfect for a bedroom recording artist, or a studio which never moves around.

The amount of connections (and quality of the connections) give you plenty of freedom to record how you like. And there is a strong chance that you won\'t even use all the connections, but eventually as your thirst for recording grows, and your recording devices change - this card will still be there for you.

I have a BOSS GT-8 for my guitar effects, and before I used to record through a mono line-out.
Now, I record through the digital out. Now I get no \"hiss\" from the regular cable setup, and I get DIRECT sound right into the card.

When you want to record clean solos picking up every accent, digital out is the way to go for digital effects.

So what do I use this card for and how well does it work?

I record professional music on my PC, I watch films on my PC, I compose tracks with reason and cubase on my PC.
How can you do all that with a simple sound box?

This card merges the casual PC user with professional Audio recording hardware.
The card fits inside the PC, the cables can dissconnect and your PC becomes a normal PC.

However, load up cubase, plug in a guitar into this and you got a serious recording studio.

This card is durable, because I never \"gig\" my pc. But its durable virtually aswell, you don\'t rely on USB ports or USB drivers, the card is right at the heart of your PC.
You click the mixer manager and you see all the sounds coming into the card and coming out. it has never \"crashed\" or had any problems like regular PC software does.

It really is a studio, in your PC.

The Delta ASIO driver lets you configure each and every input and output to the software that you need. its easy to access, and if you want to write an email to a friend, you simply use your PC like a PC.

You can only tell your PC is a studio when you have all those awesome sounds that you made blasting through the speakers (and by also seeing the microphones and keyboards and guitars and midi instruments you have sitting around the pc).

This means, that your soundcard works as a standard soundcard does, but it also has the versatility to provide proffessional recording artists with the connections that they need.

If you record like me (in your spare time) and also have a PC for things like word processing and emails and things like that - then this card turns your humble PC into a proffessional recording rack and back again.
No need for a Mackie mixer, your mixer is right there at a double-click.

If you want to use this as a mixer for your band - DON\'T. A pc is not durable for gigging, you have to carry your monitor, have to have a non flucuating power supply (and not to mention the odd alcoholic accident that can occur).

However if you want to record something onto your PC and have a proffessional sound to play around with, this is the card for you.

The ideal thing for this card is that you come home from whatever you were doing, now you want to record some music onto some software to sequence.
You set up your connections, look for them on the program you are using (in my case, in device setup on cubase sx3) and then you play, record and sequence!
This card records and outputs all the frequencies you will need and are as clear as you want them to be.

You can record something at its clearest, play it out to a crowd on a proffessional P.A and they won\'t know the difference.

If you get it from Dolphin Music (like I did) you got that fantastic low price (not that dodgy eBay price) and guarantee and after-sales service.

>.. \"Surely there is a catch!\" I hear you shout.

Well there are catches. Firstly, how reliable is your PC? This card will serve you as good as your PC is. If you run an old beat-down PC with windows 98.. Then stop reading, leave this site and go to a decent PC dealer (not currys, comet, Dell or PC world).

If your PC is fairly good, and can run cubase or reason then this card is waiting for you.

Why would you buy a card like this when there are breakout boxes which cost three times more? Well, to save money!

You buy a breakout box for the same reasons you buy a case for a microphone, the intention to gig or move about.
This card is exactly what the other cards deliver, except in a more internal - PC user-friendly form.

For me this is ideal, my home is not soundproof or huge like a studio, I come home to my workstation and can play and record like professionals do - but in the comfort of my own home, and on my PC.

Another way to do this is invest in £1000\'s of equipment and clutter your home up with it all.
This card is ideal to condense everything into one place and get recording.

The limits are basically only what you put into it, not what this card outputs.

If you are a beginner, you will find parts of the mixer and setting up a bit confusing (as I did). But now I have a midi keyboard setup into it, my guitar plugged right into it. Everything I want to record goes into the card.

And whatever I want to record, records, and goes right into the software where I want to tweak or or sequence it.

If I want to have sounds coming from different channels, if I want the output to go into a PA or other AMP, then I simply wire the output to it.

Everything is here, except in a PC-standard bare-bones form. No big breakout box to deal with, no rack to mount. You plug in, and record.

And its got the versatility and features for you to record things which rival professional recording artists.

For the price, this IS the best that you can get, both connection and sound quality-wise.
Other brands and m audio cards are more expensive because they are designed to be moved around or even gigged with (like a rack system).

For those of you on a budget, want the sound that the pro\'s deal with and not have the big studio to store all that recording equipment, then I see no better card for you.

This card may be TOO feature packed for some, especially Dj\'s who only want to have a line-in for a sampler or something.
But for guitars, midi, digital in and outs and everything like that - for the musician who aspires more than their budget can supply -- click the BUY NOW icon and you will be forever satisfied!
