The Feel Of Vinyl, The Power Of Digital Numark designed the CDX to fulfill the dream of harnessing the flexibility and convenience of CDs and MP3s with the irreplaceable feel of working with vinyl. The CDX is built with the same ultra–high torque direct drive motor as our flagship TTX, complete with 12–inch vinyl and slipmat. With a…
Have had my numark cdx's for over 6 months now. The feel and touch of the cdx's are true vinyl quality. The real sensation about them is that they do what a real dj wants them to do and then some (effects wow)(beatkeeper wow), I have been on traditional turntables for over 25+ years and the CDX's are the only thing that i have touched since that are true like vinyl. I can rip and Scratch with great accuracy (my crabs are more accurate now). I actualy tried my best to make the cd skip and hurt my hand trying to do so by hitting the side of the CDX. No more broken needles no more heavy crates of records im in my 40's now and back cant take that crate carrying torture any more. I give these babys a 100% grade A as the new wonders of the dj world. If you dont have one or two you are missing out on a whole new world in djing. Let The Music Play!!!!

These are definately more user freindly than the geminis or the technics. I found both to be lightweight, and uncontrolable but the numarks are, as the blurb says, the nearest you'll get to "proper" mixing. The size lets them down which is why I assume they are not standard in clubs - but this could also be due to the anal attitude of the dj fraternity. the effect are superb and their limits (+/-) can be preset so you dont lose the plot and add toooo much filter etc. But, as usual when this sort of kit conks out you're talking ££££££££ to fix it - a new main board is £300+ to buy, AND you;ve got to fit it!
Quality peice of gear though and I would recomend it to anyone provided you have the room - I run them alongside my 1210's so i have around 2meters of work space taken up!!!!

As I write, I gaze wistfully at a pair or Numark CDX bought recently to sate my desire for CD capable decks... I wonder to myself why I cannot be in touch with my Numark CDX for all the hours of the day. So easy to use I feel like thanking them whenever I switch them off. Occasionally I have to supply friends with restraining orders due to the supernatual levels of envy that they experience, and yet these are vinyl purists mind...
Seriously, that final point has been perhaps the most surprising part of owning a pair of CDX. Literally everyone who, more used to the feel of a record deck has expressed the ease of use and capability these turntables show when used for scratching and cutting. Careful of these vinyl heads, the may accidentally try to remove the secured record off the deck when changing a track! Onto the deck itself and I ust stress the clean, logical layout that will have you familiar with all controls in literally 10 or so minutes of using it. Solid construction, intuitive and useful loop controls with a smartloop function to aid you in club situations when a perfect loop in harder to achieve! There is also a trim option to allow you to extend the loop futher over the track.
In terms of use for just plain mixing, it really only holds advantage over other mid range cd decks if you really need the feel of vinyl. It is important to note that due to the full size platter, the Numark CDX is a considerably larger unit than the Denon DNS1000 that would e just as able to easily mix tunes. However, as far as scratching goes, there is no other to compete with it! With the obvious omission of the tone arm, there is no risk of skipping or accidentally knocking it.
The High Torque direct drive motor also found on the tt200 vinyl turntable will tear your arm off at the slightest provocation and there are all the usual cue and stutter controls for an instant start. Above the platter are 7 effects that can be easily beat synched and manipulated with a jog wheel (complete with extra satsfyingly smooth operation).
There are few minor problems I have experienced with the units that, however small, are worth a short mention. Firstly, the chassis will mark easily especially with a mixer clattering into the side of it when you are juggling (no, not you!), so keep the edges of the mixer covered or secured. The bpm counter is (cheating) a little inaccurate but does the job when manually controlled with the tap function. The supplied slipmats are a little too rough but are easily replaced. All very minor issues though really...
All in all, the Numark CDX is a one of a kind turntable that is truly worth every penny of the asking price. It is difficult to see how Numark could improve on this turntable significantly so if you are in the market for a capable turntable that will happily handle scratching as well as mixing, you should have no doubt in your mind that this is the one for you!

The Numark CDX is by far the best CD turntable on the market, bridging the gap between analogue and digital mixing. The main reason for it's supremacy, is the fact that emulates the feel of vinyl almost faultlessly. It beats the Pioneer CDJ's and the Technics CD decks, because the platter actually spins and the user gets physical resistence, just like an analogue model. The built in effects (filters, echo, transform etc) are an added bonus and the key- lock function broadens the possibilities of mixing even further. For scratch DJ's, there is currently no better digital deck available. With no latency issues, this deck is ideal for complex and fast scratching, without the need to alter hand movements to accomodate for a smaller, static platter. Although the CDX is quite bulky, it just about fits in a standard flight case and using it allows you to carry a nice small bag of CD's instead of thousands of vinyl records!
