For a budget 31 band EQ unit you can't go wrong with a Behringer Ultragraph Pro FBQ3102. The cost effective unit does everything you'd need it to in most live circumstances, and all that without being complicated to use.
Simply hit the FBQ (Feedback detection) switch and the LED lights on each fader adjust to the frequencies coming out of your speakers - strong frequencies will make the LED very bright. This makes it very easy to eliminate problem feedback.
It has the power of cutting or boosting any of the 31 bands by 12dB either side, and high or low cut knobs to go with it.
The benefits of a unit like this are that you don't need much live sound experience to use it, and it will make your whole gig much smoother. They say the only sound men that get noticed are the bad ones. I don't think you'll be noticed much for that with a unit like this.

So my much awaited Behringer EQ turns up, i un-pack it, slot it in my rack, plug it in and i was away.
This unit is so simple to use i havent looked at the instructions once, everything is clearly marked and easy to understand. The FBQ Feedback Detection System (does what the name says!!) can also be used as an audio analyzer, this not only looks really cool with red LEDs flashing to show the frequencies being used but is also very usefull for complex sound sources like drum tracks. These have diffrent frequencies at diffrent times but with FBQ on you can see these in real time and EQ as needed. For live uses the fact that the sliders and switches are illuminated means seeing it in a dark and smokey enviroment would be no problem at all. There is one problem with the FBQ3102 though and that is the fact that the on/off switch is on the BACK, so if your rack dose not have easy accses at the rear you would have a bit of a problem. All my other Behringer rack gear has a switch on the front, maybe they ran out of room on this one? But that taken into account, over all for the price you pay, like most Behringer products a LOT less than for the same type of item from anyone else, this is a very good product that sounds amazing, looks great and works really well in any kind of set up (unless you cant reach the back!!!)
