Our drummer had been having monitoring issues at a number of our recent shows. In particular venues with knackered monitor systems and less than enthusiastic engineers. Trying to play mandolin on stage with a band, I often wish I could hear myself, especially when improvising. I've just bought on of these Art "My Monitor" personal headphone monitors, and although it takes a bit of extra setting up, I can now hear exactly what I'm playing without affecting anyone else's mix. And if necessary I can monitor the main mix at the same time! Brilliant! No more frantic signals to sound engineers to "turn me up". Obviously not as good as professional in-ear monitoring, but at the price it does the trick!
