I would have liked it a bit more stable.

I cannot fault this stand apart from one tiny thing - the thinner boom segment does scrape a little on adjustment. This will undoubtedly resolve itself over time and more use (only had it a month). Not a bad price for something so sturdy and easily adjustable, i'd be hard pressed to find something cheaper in my local independent music shop. A good buy and well recommended!!
