Q: How can I get more-dynamic velocity sensitivity on the SR18 pads?
A: SR18 is designed to have eight levels of velocity on the pads for triggering sounds. From the factory, the setting is in the middle, which might not have enough dynamic range for you. To change this, press Record Setup and use the Page buttons to get to the Velocity page. The screen will show Medium. Use the value dial to change it to Soft and you will get more-dynamic response from the pads.


Q: How do I make my own Kits and Patterns?
A: To customize drum kits, call up an existing kit and make the changes you want, such as changing the sound assigned to the pad, tuning, filter settings, envelope settings, and more. Once you have your perfect sounds dialed in, press and hold Copy/Save + Rec. You can choose the User memory location to save the kit to from the 100 User slots.
Custom-modified patterns are just as easy. The User memory has 75 demo patterns in it, and there are up to 100 User memory locations. You can overwrite and recall the demo patterns.
