Inspired by nature and a product of Yamaha’s award-winning London design studio, Radius explores piano aesthetics from a whole new angle.

Yamaha have announced the expansion of the Radius ‘designer’ range. Encompassing three models, RD1, RD2 and RD3, each is distinguished by distinctive and individual designs, varying dimensions and all offering the popular Silent Piano capability.
The announcement follows the introduction of the first Radius in 2007 which has proved very popular throughout the European territories, its sales success encouraging Yamaha to develop the range. Thanks to the unique design of each model the Radius range is a desirable lifestyle brand within Yamaha’s extensive family of pianos.
Styled specifically for the European market and designed in Yamaha’s London studio, the Radius range combines striking contemporary design with outstanding value for money. The subtle design lines of each model ensure a stylish and elegant appearance, carefully crafted to compliment any living space.
All models are manufactured to exacting standards using Yamaha’s world-leading construction techniques and the finest materials available. The entire range features Yamaha’s industry leading actions, keyboards and frames whilst the all-important soundboards are crafted from grand piano grade Bavarian spruce characterised by an even, tight grain that produces a strong, consistent tone across the dynamic range. A series of five back posts ensure that the piano has optimum sound projection.
The Yamaha piano heritage stretches back over 100 years and the design of the Radius range reflects an extraordinary attention to detail. This outstanding instrument moves piano design forward and embodies many eye-catching design features that combine to create a modern classic.
Yamaha’s acclaimed Silent Piano system is available as an option on all three models. Through this pioneering technology the instrument can be played ‘silently’ through headphones. This facility has proved hugely popular with customers since the piano can be played at any time of day or night without causing disturbance or disturbing others.
A wide range of other digital sounds can also be selected, including Harpsichord, Vibraphone, Pipe Organs and Orchestral strings. Built-in reverbs add to the realism, and players can even record and play back performances thanks to the integral digital recorder.
The range comprises the RD1 (114cm high), the RD2 (116cm high) and the RD3 (122cm high).
Radius is available now from Dolphin Music.
