Have been doing some live recording of my band recently and wanted a compressor to avoid digital distortion caused by "peaks" on vocals. The Minicom COM800 does this job extremely well - and at �29 from Dolphin it's a bargain! The Minicom is simple to use and is well made.
We're going to use the Minicom for gigs too. Connect it between the mic and PA amp to "beef up" the vocals and avoid damaging signal peaks at the same time.

A very nice sound man recommened Neutrik cables after one of mine decided to lose it just after a sound check. These babies are supposedly indestructible and they haven't let me down so far. They might cost more, but in the long run they'll save you money.
