The quality of woodwimd instrument manufacture in Markneukirchen was the hallmark of the two companies "Gebrueder Moennig" and "Oscar Adler & Co." founded in the 19th Centurry. Their tradition of fine handcraft has now its revival in our firm.
Both companies were for a long time among the leading producers worldwide of woodwind instruments of the finest quality. Gebrüder Moennig received the Grand Prix at the World Exhibition in Paris in 1937 for their oboes and bassoons, while Oscar Adler received the honorary Prize.
At the start of the new millenium the company "Gebrueder Moennig - Oscar Adler & Co." has revived this successful tradition, as can be seen by the increasing approval of the instruments by top musicians from around the world. It is also amply demonstrated by the great variety of instruments we manufacture: bassoons, double bassoons, oboes, oboes d'amore, cor anglais and German clarinets.
Under the direction of master craftsman Ludwig Frank, who learnt his craft from Klaus Moennig in 1979 and with the management of executive directors Frank Meyer and Veit Schindler, decisive changes were introduced at the company at the beginning of the year 2000. One of the many highlights was the move of the company to the completely restored "Villa Schuster", that was originally constructed in 1905/1906. This meant not only a consolidation of both workshops under one roof, but also the marriage of modern production methods with ancient craft traditions.
