Rode K2 review

Hi,

I've owned one K2 for one year and I'am pretty satisfied about it ...under every point of view.

I got the ebst results recording voice and electric guitar (mic in front of my amplifier)

Its sound is warm , transparent and very low noise.

Very hight quality at the right price!

Clarely it is a large diaphragm type microphone so you know that its not the best for recording sources with quick transients (like acoustic guitar) for acoustic guitar I suggest you a small-diphragm microphone.

Wathever I used to use this K2 in stereo with a small-diphragm SEELECTRONICS SE3 , getting professional results. The SE3 used to capture the picking dynamics and the K2 for capturing the warmth of the guitar top.

Great MIC!

Although this is a very nice mic that offers alot for the price tag, however, it is limited by a few technical issues. As a more classical and theatre singer, I have noticed that there is a very strong high end presence which i'm not too impressed by because it causes almost a strained sound in the singers voice, even if the note itself is low in the soingers tessetura. However, when recording jazz, and rock, is when I find that this mic really shines. The sound overall is crisp, and with the warranty offered by Rode, the K2 is definitley worth the price tag. A quick side note, if you want to try something really neat, try recording a drum kit with just one rode k2, thats right just one, you'll be pleasently surprised.

  • HOW TO...RECORD VOCALS

With the use of a good preamp and the right software, it's possible to get incredible results when you record vocals at home. And even equipment such as the Line 6 Toneport (either the UX1 or UX2) commonly used for guitars, can be a great choice...read on.
