Kurzweil Music Systems has announced the latest optional ROM block for the PC2 and PC1 Series performance controllers.
The Classic Keys ROM Soundblock features authentic reproductions of "vintage" keyboard sounds which over the years have become essential to the modern keyboardist. It contains samples of the following instruments:
- Hohner Clavinet (w/ Treble Pickup Setting and Release Thump)
- Mellotron (Strings Choir and Flute)
- ARP String Ensemble
- Hohner Pianet
- Yamaha CP-80 Electric Grand Piano (Soft and Hard Strikes)
- RMI Electra-Piano (Piano Harpsi and Accenter)
- Classic Keys also makes use of the PC series base ROM samples and includes new "vintage" Rhodes Wurlitzer programs. For PC2 users, 4 new additional KB3 Organ programs are included as well. (KB3 mode is NOT available in the PC1 Series).
The samples in this set are of the highest quality having been recorded and processed with the expertise for which Kurzweil is famous. The PC series synthesis engine provided a variety of powerful sound-sculpting tools and the finishing touches were added with the PC series effects engine which utilizes the same technology as Kurzweil's acclaimed KDFX (for the K2500/2600 keyboards) and the award-winning KSP8 processor.
Kurzweil was able to precisely recreate the timbres from many live and studio recordings which have helped define the "vintage" sound. Effects pedals, speaker cabinets and recording techniques have all been faithfully replicated giving the Classic Keys programs a level of detail and realism never before achieved in any "vintage" keyboard emulation.
