These are good solid studiophones
The reproduction is quite neutral, reasonably analytical and not at all tiring. I think there is a definite openness that allows the mix to breath. This is pretty good for a pair of closed earphones I think. They are ported and produce a very full sound - that doesn't translate to a ridiculous bass spike in the response - but it's definitely there.

They are very repairable - and hard to break in the first place - cable is long - 1/4 TRS jack is fine.

Fitwise - They are somewhere between super and supra type earphones I think - that is the soft sealing part of the earphone does press on my ear (rather than completely swallowing your lugs). This worried me because after 30 mins the bony bit of my ear usually aches with supra types - oddly it does not feel like the ear is pressed in that sore way with these because they are large enough to sit slightly on and off my ears - missing all the hard bony parts. You don't feel the continual need to rest your hands on them to press them against your head and improve the pressure seal either. So - all in all - these studiophones earn my respect for being the least tiring earphones I've ever owned.

Maybe a little unfair giving these a 5 considering the frequency response isn\'t too bad, but they are the most painful headphones to wear I\'ve ever come across.

If you need to work with audio for more than about an hour, then these will hang off your ears like two lead barbells and you risk developing Buddha ear lobes following a recording session.

My comparison is with some Sennheiser HD600s that are like placing two cushions on your ears, but headphones are meant for wearing, so I don\'t give any concession to Audio Technica there.

The bass isn\'t too great, but generally they have a flat response which is what you want. Still not up to the challenge of headphones that cost 20 quid more though...
