The developers created a new approach to sampling brass, focusing on musicality, expression, ambience and articulation. They created the ultimate set of samples for sequencing realistic French Horn lines and passages, offering you with an extensive collection of articulations and note lengths, ranging from the noblest sustains, portatos and marcatos to the shortest staccatos.
SAM Horns tries to capture the human emotion and expression of the performers on stage. The library offers you two genuine microphone sets of all samples: a close mic'ed set and a far mic'ed set, all with the warm and full sound of a concert hall environment. The library also contains an extensive collection of filmic effects samples, ranging from aggressive clusters and swells to atmospheric textures and beds.

SAM Trombones, the follow-up to the award winning SAM Horns library. Built upon the same musical concept as SAM Horns, focusing on expression, ambience and articulation, Project SAM created the ultimate set of samples for sequencing powerful and breathing trombone section lines and passages. SAM Trombones offers with you an extensive sample list, including multiple lengths of marcato, staccato and swell articulations, with two or more alternative performances.
The SAM Trombones offers you two genuine microphone sets of all samples and an extra edited set: close (dry), far (ambient) and enhanced (powerful, pre-EQ'ed, out-of-the-box sound). SAM Trombones also includes an atmospheric set of processed SAM Trombones material (from evolving pads to short effects) created by sound designer Max Frick. The Ambient Bass Piano is included as a bonus patch.
SAM Trombones was recorded in the same warm concert hall environment as SAM Horns . Apart from the more common list of articulations, the library also contains an extensive set of filmic effects samples, ranging from aggressive clusters and swells to atmospheric textures and beds.

SAM Trumpets is the long-awaited third library in what may be called the Project SAM brass series, expanding he award winning SAM Horns and SAM Trombones line. SAM Trumpets is recorded in the same warm ambient hall that the previous libraries gained their credibility for. SAM Trumpets now includes three genuine microphone sets : close, stage and far.
Built upon the success of our previous libraries, SAM Trumpets is by far the most extensive of the three offering you a Bb Trumpet section with over 30 sampled articulations and techniques and a solo Bb Trumpet with over 6 expressive solo articulations.
Similar to SAM Trombones a set of atmospheric and surprising processed trumpet sounds has been created. This time designed and produced by Funckarma, internationally credited for their experimental and inspiring sound.
SAM SOLO SESSIONS: BRASS is the latest product in the Project SAM classical brass series. Recorded in the same concert hall as the section libraries, for SAM SOLO SESSIONS: BRASS Project SAM sampled 70 new articulations covering six solo instruments.
SOLO PLAYER PERFORMANCES
For this library, a set of 6 new solo brass instruments were sampled. Where the section libraries offer you instrument sections playing in unison, SAM SOLO SESSIONS: BRASS offers you solo performances. Each of the six players was recorded separately. Obviously this library is great for playing brass solo passages. In addition, another great use is for brass orchestration. You will get a more realistic result programming a 4-note French Horn chord using solo samples than using section samples. The last will result in an unrealistic performance by 4x4 = 16 French Horns!
All recording sessions for SAM SOLO SESSIONS: BRASS have taken place in one location – a classical concert hall, using a fixed combination of three microphone sets. This results in a perfect match between the instruments, making them ideal for balanced, deep sounding brass orchestrations.
THE INSTRUMENTS
For this library a set of six solo brass instruments was sampled, covering a wide range of over five octaves:
- Piccolo Trumpet
- Bb Trumpet
- French Horn
- Tenor Trombone
- C Tuba
- Cimbasso
SPECIAL FEATURE: ENSEMBLE PATCHES
This library is great for more than writing solo brass passages. Apart from the solo brass programs you will find an additional set of so-called ensemble patches in this library. These patches spread different orchestrations of our solo instruments across the keyboard for real-time ''tutti'' playing. This will give you a very full, powerful sounding brass ensemble that is capable of handling much more than just sketching ideas!
THE ARTICULATIONS
The articulations and techniques available in this library slightly differ for each of the six instruments, to capture the most instrument-specific playing styles. After all, each of the instruments has a different playing idiom! As an example, pedal notes down to low F have been recorded for the Tenor Trombone. High blow sustains and octave runs are available for Piccolo and Bb Trumpet. Of course the basic articulations, such as long notes, marcatos and staccatos, are available for all instruments.
SAM SOLO SESSIONS: BRASS contains 100% new recordings for Piccolo Trumpet, French Horn, Tenor Trombone, C Tuba and Cimbasso and additional recordings for the solo Bb Trumpet. The basic Bb Trumpet articulations included in this library are from the SAM Trumpets library solo recordings. Please see the detailed articulation list below.
MICROPHONE SETS
As mentioned before, SAM SOLO SESSIONS: BRASS was recorded in a concert hall using three simultaneous microphone sets:
- CLOSE - Microphone set at 2 meters from the player's position
- STAGE - Microphone set at 7 meters from the player's position
- FAR - Microphone set at 15 meters from the player's position
