The MS824 is an 8 channel 1 into 4 Unity Gain Active Microphone Splitter designed for applications where multiple feeds are required from one set of microphones without the signal degradation experienced with passive splitting solutions. The exceptional dynamic and line driving performance maintain Unity Gain on all feeds. The importance of this cannot be overstated as it allows the last minute hook up of, for instance, and OB van, without any need for recalibration.
Each of the MS824's channels has four independently buffered floating outputs allowing problem free connection to other audio systems. A fifth dedicated Link output is provided for the front of house feed. A pad switch allows the channel to handle line levels and switchable Phantom Power is provided with a Phantom Presence LED. The elctronically balanced input may be transformer buffered as an option.
A monitor button on each channel momentarily connects the input to the Monitor module (one required for each system) which facilitates both headphone and visual monitoring of input signals via a 10 segment LED bargraph. The headphone circuit features dynamic enhancement and control to ensure that the quitest signals (for instance unused but open mics) can be detected, while also limiting high level signals.
The MS824 may also be specified with power failure bypass relays and, to ensure the highest quality signal is maintained during power failure, passive splitter transformers may also be fitted.
The front panel of the MS824 gives access to the Input, Link and three of the Output XLRs as well as Phantom, Pad and Monitor switching. All connections can be duplicated on a number of multiway options on the rear panel.
For larger installations MS824 units may be daisy chained with one external power supply required for up to eight standard units, or up to four units fitted with power-fail relays. The system allows the connection of a spare PSU.
