The Mixpander Bundle hardware consists of one Mixpander/9 or Mixpander/5 PCI audio card (with 9 or 5 DSPs respectively), plus one iBox that can be connected to the Expansion Bus port of the Mixpander.
The Mixpander card itself supports up to 64 simultaneous external inputs and outputs via its Expansion Bus port (128 audio channels). The total number of simultaneous external inputs and outputs for a given Mixpander Bundle configuration is determined by the choice of iBox (for instance, up to 64 I/O with an iBox 64-MADI-TA, or up to 48 I/O with an iBox 48-TA).
The Mixpander 64-MADI-SA includes a Mixpander/9 or Mixpander/5 and an iBox 64-MADI-SA for up to 64 simultaneous inputs and outputs.
The Mixpander Bundle is supported by the Soundscape Mixer software, a completely user-configurable, real-time 128-channel mixer with DSP-powered mixing, processing and effects and VST/VSTi compatibility (the VST and VSTi plug-ins run on the processor of the host PC). The number of DSPs (nine on a Mixpander/9, five on a Mixpander/5) determines the amount of power available to run various effects and processes.
NOTE: Please note that the Soundscape Mixer software supports multiple Mixpander Bundles units and any combination of Mixpander, Mixtreme and Mixtreme 192 audio cards, allowing future expansion and a huge number of simultaneous I/O and audio streams.
On the PC side, 64 audio streams are available as inputs and outputs to all your Windows-based audio applications. (that's 64 "input" audio streams and 64 "output" audio streams, 128 simultaneous audio streams in total). These streams can be used to route audio in either direction between the Windows-based applications and any point in the Soundscape Mixer. The flexibility of the Soundscape Mixer makes it a breeze to connect any audio stream to or from any Windows-based application to any external input or output of the iBox.
