The Roth Audioblob small speakers take up very little room on my desk but they provide a big sound when the music starts to play. Once you have the bass level set to your taste the big speaker can be tucked away in the corner and never touched again. You control the volume from whatever you use to play your music.
A remote control to turn the amplifier on and off would be really handy - I have to use the main plug as my speaker is not easily reached.

This system is probably ther best 2.1 system for the money on the market!! I shal now try to explain why.

The Satalites are suprisingly small in size (and heavy) which is perfect for a small desk or next to the TV at home. listening for the frequency plot by ear I would say that the tweater is slightly forward, both in colour and in level, (8K upwards, about 1.5dB) but has a slightly thin crosover point (7.7K), then we have the high mid low treble range (2K-8K) and the sound is slightghly resesed back (1dB), below this is a seprisingly strong mid range that is brought forward slightly, (0.5 dB), there is then a 2dB bost at 100Hz to bring out kick drums, and then the speakers tail off.

The sub;
The sub actualy has 2 6.25" drivers!! one on each side this means that the bass end dosen't need to be made mono. I find many wide synths sound holowness when plade on a .1 system, but the audio blob sufers less from this due to using to drivers WHICH ARE NOT PORTED. it is of hudge importance that I state that these steakers anr not ported because they benifit from it greatly, so many systems are ported and sound crap for it, not better. The dirvers are set towards the front of the sub with the conections and controls on the back, this means that when the sub is placed in the room, the woofers themselves are quite away from the wall. I found this to greatly improve the smothness of the bass end by forcing the user to use better room placement, creating lovly smooth bass. when the specifications say they go down to 42Hz at -6dB they mean it, the sub sounds fantastic but doesn't have thoes last 20Hz that make a surprizing diference. (this system goes lower, better that any other system Ive heard at this price and beyond a bit.)

So how does the frequency plot of the satalites afect the sound;
Well because of the 100Hz bost to bring the kick drums out, music sounds very impresive, but does get a bit much after 3 hours litening, also speach is reduced in clarity, as sertain notes (generaly male voices) sudenly thump at you, and rumble throughout unnaturaly, this comes acros most with radio voices when the roximity afect has bosted that area aleay, and less corective eq has been aplide due to time contrainst and felibility of the system. the strong mid range sounds very warm and fulfiling, many many systems have big smiles by reducing the mid range but these speakers are strong here, the high mid treble dip, reduces harshness of the signal, but does reduce clarity, clipping is hard to notice and compresed format signals artifacts are hiden nicly also. The top boost is sutle but does anoy one by the end of the film, but does bring silibance out which increases clarity a little.

overall these are speakers for music, and gaming, with a price tag that hits a punch to all other manufactures I know (the build quality is very good also). one last thing THEY GO VERY LOUD (for 12 wats!!)
