The Sample Library
The superb quality of the samples included in Bandstand all meet the rigorous quality demands that are the hallmark of all Native Instruments products. The samples were crafted by the NI sound design experts. A selection of specialist companies also contributed to the outstanding Bandstand sample library. These samples were all subjected to a special NI mastering process, ensuring a uniform sonic character was achieved.

Bandstand combines an intuitive, user-friendly control interface with the uniquely powerful and brilliant sounding sample engine, producing an unprecedented quality of GM-sounds.
Instruments Library
Bandstand includes a 2.5 GB instruments library equipped with a complete General MIDI 1 instrument set (128) plus 9 drumkits and offering an extremely realistic sound.
Lucid Control Interface
The main control surface offers a convenient overview of all essential information and parameters. The integrated Instrument Browser makes selection, pre-listening and replacement of all sounds quickly and easily. The Channel Browser displays all 16 MIDI channels and the assigned instruments.
The Quick Edit Bar
The Quick Edit affords fast access to essential parameters: real-time transposition, scale constrain, micro tuning, quantization, alternate tunings, a humanizing function and more. Select a parameter and the relevant values are displayed in all 16 MIDI channels. The values can then be adjusted individually or globally.
Effects Editor
Use four high quality effects to shape your sound. Chorus and reverb effects can be assigned to the channels individually, creating the necessary sonic depth. The reverb effect relies on a state-of-the-art convolution effect to generate especially realistic results. A high-end 3-band equalizer and a limiter that can be applied to the master channel allow you to further fine-tune the sound.
The Mixer
The mixer page displays an overview of all 16 channels. Adjust the relative volumes of the channels, the amount of chorus and reverb on any particular channel or solo/mute a channel. Dropdown menus also allow different instruments to be assigned to the channels.
MIDI File Player
Play your MIDI files using the integrated Player. The tempo can be adjusted to suit your needs and the Export To Audio function allows .WAV or .AIFF files to be generated.
MIDI-File Playback:
Bandstand plays MIDI files with style. Bandstand includes a complete GM1 compatible sound set featuring outstanding 24bit samples. Simply choose from thousands of MIDI files freely available in the internet and load them into Bandstand. The software uses its vast selection of instruments, such as pianos, guitars, bass, drums, brass, woodwinds or synths, to play back the arrangement exactly the way it is supposed to sound. Use Bandstand as your standard MIDI file player and enjoy the superior quality it delivers.
Instruments can be replaced extremely easily – a piano becomes an organ with a single drag and drop. Adjust the mix and effects, add chorus, limiting, equalizing or reverb, change the speed or use the handy humanizing and transpose functions to add your personal touch. To make things even easier, the scale functionality allows you to automatically play in the correct key.
With the convenient playlist tool your MIDI performance can be completely automated.
And it is even possible to transform a MIDI file into an audio file with the convenient export function!
- Arrangement and Pre-Production - Do you need a quick re-mix of a track or want to create a new song and are looking for the right sounds? Bandstand includes a complete set of all standard band instruments, drum kits and much more for fast and convenient multi-track arrangements in any sequencer. Sixteen MIDI channels, 128 instruments plus 9 drum kits, comfortable selection of instruments using drag and drop as well as integrated effects make it very easy to find and edit the sounds you need.
- Play-Along and Practice - Musicians can enjoy the accompaniment of a complete band. Just load your MIDI file, e.g. a realbook jazz classic, mute the instrument you want to practice and then play along as part of a complete band or orchestra. Additionally, you can change the scale tuning or reduce and modify the number of playable notes. Since the tempo can be adjusted, you can start slowly until you've got the hang of the piece. With a simple click you can render the MIDI file as audio data and create CD that you can then use in your rehearsal room.
