Matt finish, solid spruce top, nato B&S
The Yamaha FG700MS acoustic guitar is new for 2005 with Nato back and sides, new pearloid headstock logo, smaller position markers, tortoise pickguard and new bridge design.
New for 2005, the FG series features include solid Spruce tops, die-cast Chrome hardware and a unique, non-scalloped X-bracing. An inverted L-block, originally used on the more expensive Yamaha LL6, creates a tighter connection between the body and the neck, and so provides a deeper, fuller low end.
The Yamaha FG700MS has a matt gloss natural finish, while the Yamaha FG700S has a high gloss finished top, back, and sides. Many consider the thinner matt finish of the FG700MS to project a more open natural tone than a heavy, high gloss finish of the FG700S.
The rosewood bridge is compensated for intonation at the second string, and its larger size should transfer more string vibration to the solid spruce top.
