Audio Editors
Audio editing software is used for manipulating digital audio. Different editing software offers different features and tools. Examples of the kinds of tasks that an audio editing application might be used for include: recording audio, detailed editing such as cutting or extracting specific parts, applying effects processing and file conversion such as from WAV file to MP3.
Most sequencing applications include some audio editing functions but for more advanced editing work such as for the recording and preparation of samples a dedicated audio editing application is often prefered. Some prefer to use audio editing software rather than a full sequencing and editing application for simpler recording and editing tasks too because if all you need to do for instance is record a single track of audio than a basic audio editing application is all you'll need.
Audio editing software is often used in preparing broadcast materials and in music mastering as part of the post-producation process.
