MIDI Controllers
MIDI is a data transfer technology developed to allow compatible devices to connect and communicate with each other. A MIDI keyboard [ like a musical keyboard but capable of transmitting and receiving MIDI data] can for instance be used to trigger notes generated by a sound module. It can be used to record MIDI parts in a sequencer which in turn will trigger notes generated by a software instrument or sound modules. Indeed the MIDI compatible devices can either control or be controlled by other MIDI compatible devices. Examples of the kinds of data that MIDI can communicate includes: musical notes, control data [for making parameter changes such as volume adjustment] and program change for switching between sounds.
MIDI controllers offer a very wide range of features from the basic notes on a controller keyboard to a vast array of controller knobs and sliders that can be assigned to a device's parameters as needed. Featured Categories
