Music software covers everything from sequencers to audio editors, score writing to sound synthesis. Dolphin Music stock a huge range of software products including all of the leading brands used in education establishments. The catagory links will take you to the different kinds of software you can buy - with explanations, examples and reviews included to help you with your decision.
Education prices are available for nearly all of the software products listed on these pages. Volume licences of multiple copies of software titles can also be purchased and are subject to further discounts.
To help you find the right software browse the brief explanations below and follow the links to the software catagories pages:
Sequencers: sequencers are used to create and record music. They offer tracks onto which parts can be recorded, edited and arranged. Many sequencers offer software effects processors and instruments so as to provide and all-in-one music creation system.
Synthesisers/Samplers: these are software instruments that offer similar features to their hardware counterparts. Software synthesisers are virtual synthesiser modules that are used to create and/or play 'synthesised' sounds. The kinds of sounds they can create/play and the method of creation [be it subtractive or sample based synthesis, for examples] vary greatly depending on the particular product. Software samplers are used to play or alter sampled sounds.
Audio Editors: these are applications that can give powerful sound editing features. If you want for example to extract just a small part from a large sound recording then an audio editor will give you the tools to do it; if you want to make MP3s or turn stereo into mono, apply effects processing or perform precise edits - then an audio editor is what you need.
Notation/Score Writing Software is used for writing scores and can offer users helpful features. Some score writing applications provide virtual instruments with which you can listen to your score.
Education/Learning Software is a broad ranging catagory that includes all software designed specifically for educational purposes. This could, for examples, be software designed to teach young learners about playing music or give tuition in a particular instrument.
DJ Software is used to blend songs together as part of a DJ style performance. This might be as simples as taking two songs and 'mixing' from one as it comes to and end to the start of another so as to play music without breaks between songs. More advanced use might involve 'beatmatching' and blending tracks, adding effects or samples.
Software Effects are software effects processors that can be used to alter sound. They range from reverb, delay, chorus to limiting, compression and EQ. For a more detailed explanation of what these effects do refer to the product pages for software effects processors. Featured Categories Music Software Music News & Articles
