Today, Sibelius has become a part of Digidesign, which is the audio division of Avid Technology Inc.
Digidesign develops Pro Tools, the industry-standard system for music and audio production. Both Digidesign and Avid are forward-thinking organizations that take great pride in producing innovative, high quality products.
As Ben & Jonathan, our founders, explain below, joining Digidesign is great news for everyone involved with Sibelius, especially our users.
A message from Ben & Jonathan Finn, the founders of Sibelius Software…
Dear Friend of Sibelius,
When we first started Sibelius back in 1993, we never imagined it would grow to the size it is now, with 80 employees, offices on three continents, and hundreds of thousands of customers worldwide.
It’s thanks to you that Sibelius has become such a success - and is now well established as the software of choice for all kinds of musicians, music teachers and students.
Over the past year, we’ve been exploring ways to grow the company even further. In our conversations with Digidesign, we soon realised that they share our passion for music and education, our technological expertise, and our commitment to quality.
So we’re delighted that we’ve managed to make the deal happen - and it’s a great fit.
Digidesign is renowned across the world for Pro Tools, and its sister company M-Audio provides a whole range of great music hardware, from audio interfaces, to keyboards, mics and speakers. So, as you can imagine, there are exciting opportunities to combine our products in new and interesting ways.
Other than that, though, it will continue to be business as usual here at Sibelius – with all the same people you’ve dealt with before, and with our product development powering ahead as ever. In fact, if anything, you can expect even better new features and releases - now that we have the additional expertise and resources of Digidesign at our fingertips.
So, we’d like to thank you all for your support for Sibelius up to now, and look forward to even better and brighter things in future!
Best wishes,
Ben & Jonathan Finn
