Vintage unit from Abbey Road goes digital
The EMI TG12413 was originally designed by EMI technicians at Abbey Road as a part of this very console that later was used to record classic albums like The Beatles ”Abbey Road” and Pink Floyd’s ”The Dark Side of the Moon”.
The plug in version of this legendary piece of hardware was created using the original design notes, technical drawings and Abbey Road’s collection of vintage units. The TG12413 package actually contains two plug-ins:
- EMI TG12413 1969 - Model of the unmodified classic EMI TG12413 Limiter. This unit features the standard HOLD control as on the vintage units.
- EMI TG12413 2005 - Model of the Chandler Limited TG1 Abbey Road Special Edition limiter. This has the Hold control modified to be INPUT gain and the overall input is boosted 10db so the Limiter really slams!
Peter Cobbin, senior recording engineer at Abbey Road Studios, commented:
"In my work I have consistently married vintage analogue equipment with the best digital technology around. This new TG12413 Plug-In underlines Abbey Road’s commitment to both the importance of our heritage and the highest standards of technical development. It also means that a small part of Abbey Road can be invested into any studio anywhere in the world."
