Björk may have one of the most instantly recognisable voices in electronic pop music, but she is not merely a gifted chanteuse. She’s also an experienced hand in the recording studio. Five years ago, midway through work on 2001’s Vespertine, she made the switch to Pro Tools, and since then she has embraced what she calls the program’s “fluidity and flexibility.” Her fifth studio album, Medúlla, used Pro Tools to help test the limits of a wholly voice-based, instrument-free production style. And now, with this year’s release of the electro-acoustic film score from Drawing Restraint 9, Björk taps into the full editing and mixing power of Pro Tools|HD.
