Bert Weedon RIP

 

 

We are saddened to hear that Bert Weedon OBE has passed today away at the age of 91.

 

Bert Weedon is a very influential figure in the guitar world, being the 1st British Guitarist to have a UK No1 in 1959 with Guitar Boogie Shuffle and his enthusiasm to share his knowledge led him to write Play In A Day.

Play In A Day has influenced a huge number of guitarists around the world such as - Paul McCartney, Eric Clapton, Slash, Brian May, 3/4's of The Beatles and some members of our staff!

 

 

Without Bert Weedon the world of guitar music would be a different, and in our opinion, a boring place!


Our hearts go out to his family and friends.
