M-Audio Releases Beta Drivers for Intel-based Macs

Published: Tue January 31, 2006  News Feed

With the attention on all the hot new products the company introduced at Winter NAMM (ten to be exact), M-Audio also posted Intel-based Mac beta drivers for their entire FireWire-compatible family of products, including the FireWire 410, FireWire 1814, and the new ProjectMix I/O. There are also beta drivers available for the Fast Track USB and Fast Track Pro.

M-Audio tells us their engineering team is actively working on Intel-Mac support for the remainder of the company's USB interfaces. Those should be posted soon, so if you own an M-Audio interface and are buying (or have bought) one of the new Intel-based Macs, keep an eye out for new drivers. M-Audio's software partner, Ableton, announced that Live 5.2 will deliver native support for the new Intel Macs, and that's in addition to some other significant gains in audio performance. Version 5.2 will enter beta testing as soon as the new Intel Core Duo-equipped MacBook Pro is available, so look for it to be available in February, followed by the release of Live 6 in Q3 2006.
