Randall's Kirk Hammett Signature Series Win Guitarist Choice Award
Both the Kirk Hammett Signature RM100KH head and KH120RHS half stack package are reviewed in the November Issue of Guitarist Magazine, with the RM100KH receiving the Guitarist Choice award for excellent, highly recommended buys.
The feature also includes a fascinating insight into the amps creation from Randall 'head honcho' Doug Reynolds and a fantastic video demo on the Guitarist CD.
"You could truly use the RM100KH, with the added versatility afforded by the myriad of models available, for virtually all applications: an amp worthy of the man and his band".
Known for using multiple amps to create his signature sound, Randall developed the RM100KH with Kirk to encompass his signature clean (KH1), rhythm (KH2) and (KH3) lead tones.
"...the crunch from KH2 is indeed the rhythm sound most Metallica fans will be familiar with. There's a ton of musical low-end push, as you'd expect, and even with the middle pot set to half, the tone is perfectly suited to muted chords and staccato notesÉusing the KH2 with the neck EMG caused walls to shake!"
"KH3 would be perfect for solo work as it's certainly hotter to or ears and, subsequently offers more cut if required".
"In contrast the clean KH1 module certainly does have plenty of Fender-y character, with that unmistakable attack at the beginning of the note adding to a tone full if chime and shimmer. Add the merest touch of reverb, and you have a clean tone that many players, regardless of musical genre, would be proud of".
"It's rare that head-turning clean and ultra-crunch tones are available from a single head, but that's certainly the case here".
Kirk made it very clear from the start that he wanted to develop a full line of amplifiers that would provide fans his signature tone at any price point. Built using the same tone circuit as Kirk's MTS head, the new KH120RHS half stack includes the 120-watt KH120RH head and KH412 cabinet.
"...the much more affordable KH120RHS half-stack would represent a great first step towards any budding metal player's own signature tone...A great price for a signature head and cab, plus a choice of useable and very dirty tones. A career in metal awaits..."
The Randall RM100KH is available now at £1999 RRP. Matching KH cabs are £899 RRP. The KH120 RHS half-stack package is also available now at £549 RRP
