Wes Borland Joins Marilyn Manson!
Marilyn Manson has a new recruit among his band’s ranks: Yamaha artist Wes Borland, formerly of Limp Bizkit and currently of Black Light Burns.
The announcement was made Aug. 14 by Manson at a press conference, one day prior to the new partners’ first gig at the ETP Festival in Seoul, Korea.
“I am joining Marilyn Manson, but Black Light Burns is still going strong and I have no problem operating in two bands,” Borland writes in an online posting on his MySpace page. “MM is playing a show here in Korea, where I am now, in about 8 hours and then I’m on the way back home to start doing some guitars with Nick [Annis, BLB guitarist] on the next Black Light Burns record.”
Borland plays a signature CV820 WB Yamaha electric guitar, a semi-hollowbody built for heavy music that he helped design from the ground up.
“Borland is an incredibly talented guitarist and artist, and his talent combined with someone like Manson, who shares a similar artistic outlook, will make for some truly revolutionary music. The combination of Borland and Manson is a really powerful lineup,” comments Mike Tempesta, US artist relations manager for Yamaha Guitars.
Manson has commented that the partnership will help form “the most indestructible Marilyn Manson.”
Black Light Burns has just released a combination CD and DVD package titled Cover Your Heart and The Anvil Pants Odyssey on I Am Wolfpack/YMA Music Group’s label.
Packed with reinterpreted songs of bands including Duran Duran (“Hungry Like the Wolf”), The Jesus Lizard ("The Art of Self Defense"), Sisters of Mercy ("Lucretia My Reflection") and PJ Harvey ("Rid of Me"), Cover Your Heart is a deconstruction and reconstruction of music that the band has loved and appreciated.
Meanwhile, Manson is in the middle of recording a new album, which is expected to be released sometime next year.
