DJ LOGIC FURTHERS HIS MUSICAL EVOLUTION WITH KORG’S KAOSS PAD
DJ Logic’s renown is as wide as the musical base on which he’s established his sound. His work with Medeski Martin & Wood helped launch his career, and he has since compiled credits with John Popper from Blues Traveler, Phish, and Vernon Reid for their Yohimbe Brothers collaboration.
There is one constant amongst all of DJ Logic’s performances. He’s been using a Korg KAOSS Pad for years, and recently acquired the next generation KP3. He remarks on his love of KAOSS, “I use it on all of my remixes, live performances, and recordings. It’s been my tool of choice and it always will be.”
DJ Logic explains he’s impressed with the KP3’s ability to “save my sounds and recall them.” He comments, “I’m just very excited about the KP3 and what Korg has done just to make a person like myself appreciate it even more because they’re looking out for the musician and consumer.” He continues, “I’m using a bunch of effects. I like the delays and I also mess around with the filters and the distortions.” With the KP3, samples can be saved on a Secure Digital (SD) card or transferred to computer via USB, and as DJ Logic confirms, “[Korg is] staying up to date and that’s great.”
On his new album Zen of Logic, featuring John Medeski and Antibalas, DJ Logic offers inspired new KAOSS grooves on tracks such as “Afro Beat” and “Hypnotic.” For the latest happenings, visit www.djlogic.com
