Imperial College Music Technology Suite
Dolphin Music have helped in the creation of a successful music technology department at Imperial College, London. In spring 2004 Dolphin Music supplied consultancy services to Imperial College to assist in their aim to set up a Music Technology course in partnership with the Royal College of Music. Imperial then purchased equipment from Dolphin to transform a suite of computers into music technology systems capable of facilitating the proposed programme of study.
Almost three years on the day time and evening class courses are going strong with many success stories along the way. Students have attended beginner’s classes and worked their way up to qualifying to study music technology as a degree. Other students have taken modules of music technology as part of their music, science, medical or engineering studies.
As Imperial College celebrates its centenary, Dolphin Music takes pride in continuing to support the university as its successful music technology department grows in coming years.
To accommodate a range of courses and activities the Imperial College Music Technology Suite features Cubase & Reason on a PC workstation connected to the university’s network for essential utilities, maintenance and updates. The workstations use Tascam’s superb US122 audio/MIDI interface giving ultra-low latency, great sound quality and flexible microphone and line inputs. USB MIDI controllers keyboards used are the Edirol PCR Series which offer improved key action and many MIDI controller options.
