Using Technology to Support a Music Curriculum
(18/11/2006)
The newsletter this month includes some ideas that are in keeping with the theme of providing enriching educational opportunities for young people through music. Although such opportunities can come, for example, through simply playing an instrument we are keen at Dolphin Music to shed some light on the opportunities that are available through the use of music technology.

Portable Ableton Live System
(03/10/2006)
As this is our first newsletter it falls to me to start the ball rolling with an article about some cool kit and how I’ve been using it. Between finishing at the end of the academic year in July and starting work here at Dolphin I have been away to Australia and SE Asia DJing with Ableton Live. I travelled with my trusted Inta-Audio music laptop, M-Audio FW Audiophile soundcard, Novation Remote 25 MIDI controller and loads of MP3s. That’s a lot of kit to be carrying around on planes, boats and ‘Tuk-Tuks’ you might say – but it’s better than carrying a flight-case or two of records I can tell you!

Changes at Dolphin Education
(03/10/2006)
One of the main changes that will be happening at Dolphin Music for education customers is our web site. We’re going to change the structure and content so as to simplify the process of browsing for products and as mentioned above offer helpful guides about technology and equipment.

The course is two days in length and covers a range of topics, focussing on relevant equipment, Cubase and Reason [as the two most popular educational software packages] but extending to cover other systems and looking at practical educational application.
