Blackstar HT-5R Valve Combo Amp Reviews
A terrific little amp for home practice, recording and even playing small pub sized venues. I play a mix of hard rock and metal, it caters for all my needs from punchy riffs to solos. Friend of mine borrowed it to play in his blues band and said it was brilliant so it has versatility in music genres. And it's a bargain compared to amps of similar size and quality. Can't recommend it enough.
All the HT series amps are simply great, easy to carry around, it provides a great tube tone for cleans and dirt! The HT-5R has the benefit of a footswitch to change between channels, larger speaker and the stereo modern reverb which is some kind of room/hall ambience, very sweet. The headphones/line out simulate speakers and sond awesome on recording direct to the PA. For live rig, is possible to connect it to a 2x12 or 4x12 and sound huge!
Im no expert with amplifiers but the HT5 has a brilliant crytal clear setting but also a nice grundgy setting, the only down side is its really quiet but cant blame it, its only a small thing
Love it for it's ease of use and great, quality sounds. I usually play heavy-rock and enjoy this amp to the full.
The ht5 is a brilliant little amp, only 5 watts but it's loud enough to use in a full band setting, I gigged with it last week and it handled it fine. I do find myself wishing it was a bit louder as most of the time it is up full but it's so portable and easy to use at home levels I put up with the slight lack of volume. The distortion tone is lovely, I tend to use the British side of the isf with gain about 2 o clock for a nice gritty rock tone. The clean it's good with plenty of headroom however I own the version without reverb and would recommend getting this version with reverb for a bit more sparkle. Build quality is fantastic no worries about it breaking. Only complaint would be the footswitch cable is too short could really do with another meter or so.
