Behringer Bass V Amp Pro Reviews

Behringer Bass V Amp Pro

I approached Behringers\' gear with a small amount of trepidation; if you scout around on the internet some people swear by their products and others swear at them. The clincher for me, as I imagine it will be for most poverty stricken musicians, was the price, about a quarter of what you\'ll pay for the Line 6 XT Live.

This unit is very impressive for the wedge, it does a ridiculous amount of things in one neat little package, amp and cab simulations, effects etc. and is infinitely tweakable to get just the sound you desire. I play keyboards, bass and ten thumbed guitar using it and its opened up my sound horizons a lot. Some of the factory presets are a bit silly but that\'s par for the course, every manufacturer wants to show what their unit can do. Like programming synths, I look for a vague approximation of the sound I want and then muck about with it until it\'s right.

Drawbacks? Not many. Editing patches with it can be a bit cumbersome because of the two tier way parameters are accessed (you need to hold down a button to get to half of them), but if you go to Behringers\' site there\'s a free software interface that allows you to MIDI it to your PC and twiddle virtual knobs on your screen, much easier. It has a large amount of connectivity options on the rear of the unit, but not the option to XLR it to other units. No patch names on the display, just numbers, so it\'s a bit hard to work out what\'s saved and where. And really, in order to realise its full potential, a MIDI foot controller is a must; no access to wah, loop player, bass synth pedals etc. otherwise.

But all in all, this is a very comprehensive piece of kit at a give-away price. It won\'t make you play like Jaco Pastouius (you can nail his sound with it though) but it will allow you to find that aural signature you\'re after, whether it\'s yours or someone else\'s. Recommended.

I have had this baby for a little over 4 months and I have got to say that I am very impressed.

The vintage amp models compare favourably with some of the originals that I have used/heard in the past and this coupled with it's great flexibility has promoted the unit to one of my most used pieces of gear.

I originally purchased the unit with a view to use it exclusively in my home studio and was later tempted to take it along to a band practice. WOW!

I could not believe how good it sounded through the P.A. Really nice rich deep bass sound to crisp JAM like tones.

I have recently used this at a gig and no one knew that I was not going through a big rig.

The fact that I can carry it in my gig bag is a real plus and for recording I just use the SPDIF send makes this money well spent.

The only real draw back with the unit is the interface which only displays the number of the patch rather than the name of the amp. However, the front of the unit does display the names of all of the bass amps (as well as several very good guitar, keyboard and acoustic models from the V-AMP PRO GUITAR VERSION) and so it is very easy to tweak.
Definately worth a good look.

Price Matching

Dolphin Music brings you the best music gear at the best price. We are committed to superior customer service and have extensive product knowledge. However, in today’s market we may not always be aware of all the price fluctuations of the products we sell. So, we offer competitive price matching.

Please fill in the following form to request a price match.

What prices we will match?

We will compare prices for new, direct from manufacturer items, excluding any add-ons, options, or other special features which may affect price.

The item must be new and must be the exact same make and model (ie, the same size, version, etc.).

Since our postage charges are lower than most of the shops, the comparison price must be a "delivered cost" to the consumer.

If we are unable to verify the previous condition, we will notify you that we require additional information to verify the Price Match request. Our goal is to make this policy simple and hassle-free. We are committed to responding to your requests quickly.

The price you have found must be the Internet Retailer's regular, advertised price for a current and available item. The price you found cannot be a closeout, discontinued, blemished, year-end, inventory reduction, or any other type of advertised sale price.

Price Matching requests may not be combined with any other promotional discounts, specials or other price incentives.

Prices and price sources you have found which do not meet the above criteria or in which incomplete or inaccurate information is provided to us, will not be approved for our Price Match.
