Ibanez Paul Romanko PRB1 Bass - Burgundy Wine Flat Reviews
First of all.. NECK-THRU at this price?
Think about that for a minute... The sustain, low end thump and solid feel you would normally be looking to pay around £1000 for that kinda privilege!
Now think about Ibanez quality, this is no China made lump wood special and when compare it with say an equally priced SR400 ( I have one of those too!), you'll see, feel and above all HEAR the difference.
So much so, I'm selling my china-made SR,, despite the 3band active EQ and slim taper neck... It just doesn't come close to this!
It is quite a weighty beast, but balances perfectly on a strap, even slung low. When it is down there, you'll notice that it is incredibly long and you'll have to get used to less frantic movement for fear of decapitating your guitarist, or your shiny new bass!
Totally and playability: this is a one trick pony; built for heavy, thumping Steve Harros / Frank Bello type metal.
the single volume knob merely tries to tame the immense power tht is delivered by the re-mixed, actively toned heavy duty pickups!
However, tinker with your amp or pedals and you can get "subtle" and even bluesy sounds; but you have to really tone down your right hand and your heart for that!
The fret board, bridge and body contours make this one very addictive bass, have no doubt that you will ever want to put it down.
There is a flaw or two:
Unless you're a natrurally gifted, play by "feel" bassist; you cannot tell what fret you're on... Except the 12th fret, of course!
The battery cover is a 2 screw, fiddle and incredibly tight affair; not conducive to the amount of time you'll want to have it plugged in and roaring!
I'm so glad I bought one of these: especially as I'd set out with twice the cash in my pocket for a pn Aria SB cliff Burtn replica: which has iffy reviews in build quality and is. Itching like Cliff's actual bass!
I had enough change to keep me in Jack Daniels for the sat 6months!
Try it, turn it up and give it some stick... You WILL want it!
