Hi i own a gemini xl500 turntable, I think this turntable is exellent it is equally as good as the technics sl 1210 decks. There is only 1 small problem with the gemini and that is there is no quartz motor on it so the speed can drift, but i found once the deck as been up and running for a few minutes the speed is ok. The main features i like and find useful are the speed change, start stop button and breaking system. In addition to this i think the pitch control and pop up light are exellent. This turntable is well worth the money is very easy to set up. I paid 150 for my turntable from superfi and its retail price was 300 pound so i got myself a bargain. In my final comments i would recomend this turntable to anyone either for home use or dj use all in all its a cracking piece of kit
The Gemini PS-540i is a great mixer for Scratch Dj's and beginner tecnho Dj's. It has features such as the Low Mid High cuts to alter the original sound on the record, great for Techno. It also has the "XF" Curve which is a button on the front of the mixer that adjusts the fader from fast sound cut to gradual. I found this very useful in times where i wanted to switch from record to record, and of cours i used the fast sound cut for scratching. The only thing I would recommend is a smoother edged fader which would make it easier to crab scratch. Other than that it has treated me very good for 8 years!
When I first purchased my PDM-01, I was extremely skeptical at first. My skepticism comes from my previous experience with Gemini mixers which are known to eventually get bad feedback through the master outs. Because of budget reasons, I decided to take the leap and jump on this bad boy. Overall I must say I am very pleased with it's overall performance, especially because there has been no feedback (at least not yet). I record a lot to my computer so the balanced outs and the Booth and Record outputs are very useful. The Equalizer is also very helpful and actually quite well rounded compared to other mixers with built-in Eq's. My biggest surprise was the 'rail-glide' cross fader because it is actually quite responsive compared to my other Gemini experiences. My only gripe would be that I would like more cross fader options for this mixer, but at this price for this sound quality, that is hardly a big deal... Overall, I would rate this a 7 out of 10 overall, but if you are comparing budget mixers under 200$, I would give it a 9 out of 10.
What a great little piece of kit. Does exactly what it says on the box.

I have only just recently got it but have used it a few times for recordings and it works a dream. Have made recordings onto a 2Gb flash drive memory stick and onto an old 256Mb MP3 player both at WAV format and at various MP3 compression settings and all are fine, the WAV recording is especially good - better that using the Soundblaster soundcard in my PC.

Takes a bit of getting used to for the first few times especially when setting up and when finalising recordings. You can't just stick a flash drive in the USB slot and hit record and then hit stop and immediately remove the flash drive. Before you can record you have to wait a few seconds for the unit to recognise the flash drive and initialise and when you finish recording you have to let it finalise things also. But no doubt I'll get used to it.

I used to use a portable DAT recorder to make location recordings and then have to re-record them them again to transfer onto my PC when back home. This unit removes the need for the re-recording. Just plug the flash drive into the USB connector on the PC and the recording is transfered in no time at all ready for tidying up using Soundforge.

If this unit continues to perform as it has so far the DAT may become redundant (probably keep using it as a back-up, I'm a belt and braces man!).

Now one or two annoying features.

One: The thumb wheel level adjustment is a pain but I suppose a knob to twiddle would spoil the look and once set it shouldn't need adjusting again asmost level changes would be done in the mixing desk.
Two: The 'peak' LED is the same one that displays 'no signal' so if you have a few silences or quiet patches in the music followed by sudden transients things can get a bit confusing, separate LEDs would have been better and also please Gemini, on the next version, give us several LEDs to show the signal level. It is quite disconcerting to record with no level indicator except when the signal peaks too high or goes low or disappears.

Very pleased so far and considerably cheaper than the alternatives.
I just bought one recently to see how they fair in the live sound environment and tried it out at a festival.
Set the iKey going at the beginning of the festival and didn't have to touch it again.
Managed to record the whole festival at 160kbps onto a 1Gb stick and because I'd used one of those lovely USB flash drives with an MP3 player/FM radio built in, I was able to listen to it on the drive home. Can also record directly to iPod!
No more piles of MDs and no more recordings with the last 20 minutes missing. Utterly incredible.
A must-have for all live engineers
