Decent volume (below canon status), great, balanced tone, not as dark as IRosewood tends to be, bell like sustain/tone, subtle but present overtones - a spectacular guitar. First, the timber - the closest thing I\'ve seen to a master grade sitka top. The grain is so tight as to be nano-grain - but widens just a bit at the edges. The fretwork is best I\'ve seen, period. Both frets and fingerboard are polished. The neck is constructed like a Lowden neck - 2 ebony strips that run the length of the mahogany neck - Olson uses a similar construciton technique. I have to think it contributes to the overall tone and sustain, which is great. (an a diamond volute 4 you Martin guys) Tuners - Gotoh - final words - a 5 - $6,000 handcrafted Japanese-Terada guitar for a $3,000 price - but heavier than a Guild jumbo, my favorite guitar - yes!!!
