Overall Im pleased with this interface. Its my first so I have nothing to compare it to, nor do I have a lot of knowledge of them but it has made audio sound much warmer, larger and more defined than it did through my pc soundcard. Its quite a heavy, solid unit and seems to be built well. Recording audio through the interface again sounds warm and clear, not to mention it fits into the set up very well.
I purchased this effect unit as I thought the controls were very easy adjustable for use in a live sound setup. Most effect units have deep menu\'s combined with small displays. This unit has all functions on separate buttons and lots of LEDs to tell its active status and so is perfect fore a live sound setup.
After using it for about one year I can say I\'m very happy with my choice as I love the direct control I have over it.
My biggest complaint about this unit is its use of an AC adapter, for this money it should have a built in powersupply and not one of these crappy adapters. As this is my only mentionable complaint I believe this unit to be very good and would recommend it without a doubt.
Be aware that it does not have an easy dry/wet adjustment. It is deep in the menu and not assignable to a knob. Also all factory programs are set 100% wet.
So use it only parallel with a mixer.

i Bought this unit about 2 months ago due to a growing dislike of VST reverb and after getting a taste for using outboard gear i decided to up my experience of it.

the first thing that hit me when i pulled it out of the is that it was not supplied with a UK plug. this meant that for a few days i could not use it until i got a suitable replacement plug. so a head up would have been nice.

but after getting it set up i was very pleased with the reverb sounds it featured along with the flexibility of them. all perimeters you\'d want to change can be when run as a single effect. the delays also have a very nice sound.

the only problem i have with these is that the tape delay degradation can only be effected by a simple \'smear\' nob, no separate filters or resonance controls were featured, but the effect itself does sound very nice.

another problem that may hinder some people but doesn\'t really bother me much is that when using two stereo effects they must be returned on a single stereo channel. i did realize this when i bought it and the product description makes no attempt to hide the fact, but when running two effects in stereo a lot of the perimeters that could be changed are lost, for example if running the room reverb along with another you only get the options to control, pre delay, mid RT ( which i figure means reflection time) and liveliness. whereas if running as a single reverb the room reverb features controls for, pre delay, Mid RT, diffusion, shape, spread, RT Highcut, High cut, Early reflection time and early reflection level. but i find the quality of the sounds makes up for the lack of flexibility. some reverbs can cost upwards of 300 and offer no flexibility.

lexicon is a name you can trust for quality and i feel this unit for the price deserved a place in most decent studios, i\'m certainly pleased i bought it.
This seemed like it would do exactly what I wanted but sadly, it will not work with Vista 64 bit OS. After researching this on the web, I am clearly not the only person discovering this after purchasing the Lexicon. I spent ages trying to get some drivers to solve the problem but nothing has been made. I am not impressed at all with this although the guys at Dolphin were great and took the unit back without any complaints and recommended a machine that might do the job better. Thanks for that.
The first unit I got was malfunctioning but I had great support from Dolphin music and Lexicon and they shipped me a new one that works fine.
I do computer based music so I will focus more on that.

I\'ve used a few software verb plug-in, like UAD 2 Realverb, ableton reverbs, reverbs included in protools etc. but nothing I\'ve tried sounds as good as this. It is not an obvious difference in creative FX but in natural sounding reverbs, it does make a difference. Reverb is a complex and CPU demanding effect so its probably the first effect you would want to go \"hardware\" with.

The Lexicon MX400 has two processors (A and B) so you can have two different effects running at the same time. I usually use a natural verb on a return track for mixing purposes, without plug-in, and free the other processor to use in creative effects, like chorus or delays. The plug-in allows for quick loading of presets (factory and user).
I use SPDIF connections an XLR and I get excellent sound quality, zero noise. The plug-in and standalone is great, you can quickly jump between presets and save your own presets. Its possible to automate parameters from the DAW. This means full hardware/software integration. The USB connection is stable and the plug-in doesnt load the CPU.

 hey there,
it\'s been a almost a month i\'ve been using the lexicon mega and i\'m really satisfied with the product. at the biggining i found it kind of hard to make it work work with the CubaseLe4. it didn\'t have any problem. the only thing was that the manual doesn\'t explain throughly how u select the USB assing channel to direct it to Cubase\'s inputs. That was a matter of an hour to figure out how to make it work. really usefull and easy to use is the pantheon reverb that is included.
I bought one of these about nine months ago along with an M-Audio Oxygen V2. Great I thought, I just turned my mac into an entry level DAW for a little over 100! In a way I did but unfortunately this unit makes a ton of noise on one or two track recording. Most of the time it wont even turn on and you have to faff about repeatedly un-plugging and plugging in the unit to get it to work.

I started out using the unit for both in and out, I stopped doing that after it decided not to play back the track I was making and instead made the kind of racket Thurston Moore would be proud of.

Anyway, just don\'t buy one of these. They\'re crap.
This is a great looking unit, and broadly does what I wanted it to do. It lets me record a Mic and an instrument at the same time as a MIDI input - the reason I wanted that was to be able to record the MIDI from a Roland GR-33 MIDI guitar unit, at the same time as a direct out from the the guitar and a separate (phantom powered) mic. The bonus for me was that it also has 2 line ins, so I can record old tapes to MP3.

I intially had some big problems with the ASIO drivers. Although I could record (with Sonar), whenever I played anything back I just got bad noise. I had the same problems with MME, but I got it working with WDM. Thankfully, whatever it was now seems to have resolved itself, but I don't know what it was I did (so I hope it does not go wonky again).

Aside from that, I found that when I hooked up my Sontronics STC-2 Mic I had to wind the Mic knob up to maximum to get a decent level, but I was getting quite a bit of noise from the Lamda the very last 1/10th turn.

I run Windows XP on a Macbook, and the installation CD would not recognise the Windows drivers - which luckily I was able to download from the Lexicon website (www.lexiconpro.com).

It is not that easy to see when the red clipping and peak LEDs comes on, as they seem pretty faint.

If you are not in the US, you can only get tech support from a dealer, not from Lexicon.

All in all, a nicely packaged and presented unit, that sits well on my desk. And, I think it is going to do the job.
The lexicon Lambda promises quite a bit.

Two phantom powered XLR inputs, line inputs, etc. etc. all with low background noise, and of course your basic MIDI In/Out interface.

So I decided to put these claims to the test with the following gear:

- Apple Powerbook G4
- M-audio Axiom 61
- Samson VR88 Condenser microphone.
- 2 pieces of Rode NT5:s.
- Novation Nova Hardware synth.

First of all, this baby is powered by USB without the possibility of taking the juice from your lovely electric network plug. Now, even as this is a very handy thing, you might want to be careful about which USB do you hook this one up to. My advice is to plug it straight to a cpu, not to a USB-splitter since under some equipment this might cause unusual results such as the Lexicon turning itself off, and other various weird properties.

- I started off using the 2 Rode mics hooked to the 2 XLR channels straight in. No complaints, straight response, no hums, pops or clicks on the final track. Phantom power works nicely, no switchin on or off during a 4 hour recording session. The preamps seem to give off a nice response and since I have been using the Rode NT5:s as overheads for quite a while, I cannot tell a difference if I am using the preamps on the Lambda, or on my low-budget mixing desk. And no, I am not talking about Behringers when I mean low budget.

- As far as the instrument input is concerned, it serves as your basic DI-box sound. Flat and digital, but this is what you are going to get even with the best active DI-box / Redbox. The fact? Good. Does what it is supposed to. If you want a nicer sound, add something for the VST effect input since the Lambda comes equipped with a Cubase LE-software.

- Midi control works as it should. I am not getting a latency that is dependant on the soundcard. I also tried using my dual-core E8500 equipped PC and the response is logical. Larger processing capability = less latency, but then again, these things are not the fault of the soundboard.

Now since there are only 2 inputs on XLR, and I used only the Lexicon as an imput instead of a mixing board, I had to change between the cables when switching to the Samson. Of course, should I want to solve the problem, I would go for a small mixing desk.
Now, I do not see this as a problem as the Lexicon Lambda is not inteded for hardcore studio recording but for your occasional instruments and / or vocals. People who are thinking about the difference between the Lambda as a straight recorder or using it as interface between a smallish mixing board and the CPU, should be aware of the fact that this is for house recordings, not for multichannel studio. And you CAN always hook up the mixing board to the Line inputs behind the Lambda AND use the 2 phantom-powered mics for something else.

Verdict?

Tested it out with both Apple and PC, fast & slow processors and I saw no sound card problems on either one, save for the fact that if left inactive, the USB connection switches off and causes the sound card to go to sleep.

Call me old-fashioned but I do like to have a direct power input option on my equipment.

Of course, anyone who wants to use this for a larger recording setup or to even consider about studio-level recordings should be aware that you NEED a mixing desk with sends / returns for various rack equipment such as compressors etc.

You are not going to make a well produced track with only this and even the best of microphones.
If you want that, I recommend a budget of 5000+ euros to get you started.
But for 200-300e, a few low-budget condenser mics and using the Cubase plugins for compressors etc? I see no problem with using the Lambda.
I bought this product more than a few months ago. It arrived very quickly which i was really pleased with, it was well packaged and the contents were in great condition.

i have a bsc in music tech and ive used pro tools cubase nuendo and all the software and hardware to go with it so it wasnt exactly difficult for me to get to grips with. however from a beginners point of view it was v easy to install and it was v easy to use.

its ideal if you have limited space/funds like i have and it is ideal for recording acoustic/electric guitar etc and vocals.
Hi,
My name is Tokpa Alfred, my friends prefer to call me Freddy Davidson, my artist\'s name. I am of Ivory Coast, in Africa.
I am a Passionate person of the sound, and I frequent home studio a lot to give helps of keyboard piano to friends. I was marked a lot with the quality of the work that supplied Lexicon Omega. No problem of latency, less cumbersome and powerful. If I had the means to offer myself a home studio, Lexicon Omega will make leave my equipments. I like it.If you are tried to buy it, do not especially hesitate, you do not go to regret it.
If you own a PC this is not the audio interface for you! For nearly a month I've tried to get this unit to work. Lexicon support is very poor. Email support is out of Shrilanka and the tech I reach here via telephone states "nothing ever goes wrong with these". Lexicon will do nothing. No offer to return my money and no fix coming.
