I've had the same set of HR824's for about 6 years and used them in a number of different locations, from good to bad. They may not be the best monitors in the world, but they're mine and they work for me. I've just moved into a new studio space with some acoustic issues and I purchased the China Cones as part of the acoustic overhaul I'm doing. I have to say that my jaw is still on the floor. The 824s are on sand-filled stands, and after putting on the China Cones the low end has a clarity I've honestly never heard. I'm going through my reference tracks as I type this and I'm amazed as I listen to each one. The tightness of the low end is the most noticable difference in my setup but I'm also hearing a slightly more defined stereo image. I was apprehensive about paying 125 for 6 tiny pieces of ceramic but believe me it is well worth the price. I'm not usually one to write overly glowing reviews but this time I just had to. I don't know if I should be happy or upset that I have to learn my monitors all over again now.
