The box simply does what it says. It has four identical sections. Each section consist of one microphone female XLR input on the back face and four male XLR outputs, two on the back face and two of the front face, and three switches:
* a switch on the back face for selecting direct or transformer coupled status for output 1 on the back face, output 2, 3 and 4 being staying transformer coupled,
* a switch on the front face for applying 48V phantom voltage on the input,
* a switch for applying a 20 dB pad on the input, which makes the box usable also at line level, which I did not test yet.

The audio sounds perfect. The output level is equal to the input level, that is O dB gain

An audio test for comparing a pair of Schoeps CMC6-MK21 plugged through the MS424 on one hand to a DAV BG1 preamp plugged on a Steinberg MR816X computer audio interface, and on the other hand directly to the MR816X:

The build quality is great : heavy box, gold plated pins for the male XLR connectors, beautiful British green front face. My only reserve: no power on-off switch. <br />
