The pcr series are probably the most touch sensitive key controllers there are out there at a low price, as they can react amazingly to your touch depending on the setting and they make anything by M-Audio feel pretty cheap. In fact my Pcr-800 gives me way more control over how I sound than anything else I\'ve tried aside from a Nord and for the price it\'s being offered it\'s an absolute steal. As far as I\'m concerned if you have even the smallest amount of keyboard ability, just get the 800 and put it with whatever software you\'re using. The only reason I\'m deducting a point is because it doesn\'t really have any middle ground when you use it with a pedal, it either over-responds or doesn\'t do anything. Aside from that though, buying this device was probably the best money I\'ve spent in years.

I bought this keyboard controller about 2 weeks ago and I\'ve tried with garage band with very good results - to be honest I was able to create a song in less than 5 minutes. The keystation is simple to use and does everything it is suppose to do. You just need to pick any music software like Abbleton, sonar or Reason plus your creativity to keep you playing for hours. OR if you\'ve got, like me, an Apple Mac with garage band installed is plug and play all the way.

I do not know a lot about keyboards, but when I searched around the website, this keyboard was the perfect choice for me. When it arrived 24 hours later in the quickest delivery I have ever experienced (and by the way, thank you to dolphin music for it!!), it was better than I had expected, quick and easy to use, no problems what so ever!! Well, obviously you only buy this product to use to trigger synths etc, so really I can only review this on 2 levels - does it work, and is the extra 60 spent on getting the semi-weighted version worth it? Well, it definitely works, and having used the unweighted version I would say to anyone who wants to use it as a keyboard and not just as a trigger to save your pennies and get this one. The weighting of the keyboard is quite simply excellent, and I'm so glad I took the risk - the overall feel is a mile away from the plasticy unweighted version - it really allows you to communicate with the lines you are playing so much better, which makes it a lot more fun. It's arguably a lot of money for such a "simple" device, but combined with Reason or the likes, is the equivalent of many 1000s worth of keyboards - so 60 extra on the interface you use when it's this good is an easy decision to make in my eyes.

This controller keyboard was a pleasant surprise for me. I had difficulty finding a model which emphasised key \'feel\' over extraneous extras. I had decided upon the PCR 800 largely as a safe option because I\'ve bought good quality Edirol / Roland kit before. The PCR800 comfortably exceeded my expectations. The build quality is very high, and the clean, unfussy design looks better in the flesh than online images might suggest. The keys themselves are the best feature, particularly their extremely quiet operation. The knobs are also satisfying to use and feel sturdy. If I had to criticise any aspects of the unit, I\'d choose the velocity pads, sliders and crossfader. Although these are by no means unpleasant to use or fragile, they don\'t match the quality of the keys and the knobs. I\'d have preferred more knobs, please. Also, the preset controller maps are all highly customised for certain pieces of proprietary software. If you want to use any packages not on the list, you\'ll have to do some manual programming. Thankfully this isn\'t hard. It\'s also worth noting that this keyboard will work with Linux over USB, using the snd_usb_audio kernel module. I couldn\'t find this information anywhere on the internet prior to my purchase, but I\'m pleased to say that there have been no problems. I was dreading having to replace my old controller keyboard, as none of the current offerings really appealed to me. However, the PCR800 has so far proved, thankfully, an excellent choice.

Excellnt device, well built, light, plenty of assignable buttons. The crossfader is a bonus if not a bit flimsy. Only reason not to get 10 out of ten is that the setting up the MIDI map was quite long winded to get my head round, but however after cracking that it has been giving me excellent results in the studio and live.
